The U.N. And Terrorist Organizations

This is very interestings. It would seem that the United Nations & Hezbollah are just a little too "buddy-buddy".

Let's look at this:
- Israel's invading another nation because a militant group kidnapped two people.
- The UN is trying to prevent an invasion.
- The militant group was founded to try and kick Israel out of Lebanon from the last time they occupied the country.

Who's in the wrong? I would have thought it was the country insane enough to claim that the world's given it a greenlight to invade.

Why is it you never address the issue, Za? You have your own site to say what you wish about Israel.

Did you even read the article or did you just ignore it so you fall back into the normal lefty effort of thread hijacking?

Ehh..it was more than just that unless you have not been paying attention. Surly you do not want this thread with thousands of news item links outlining the terrorism, kidnappings, killings and missle firings into Israel from Hezbullies; for the last twenty years. Not to mention the invasion of Israel to perform those acts.
Surly a rational person as you claim to be can see that ANY nation under constant harassment and killing of it's citizens is going to react.

I personally think that Iran ordered thier puppet to start this conflict to remove the increasing pressure and scrutiny of Irans nuclear weapons program.
Shell game.

Hizballah Attacked UNIFIL Twice This Week
Neither the mainstream media nor Kofi Annan have mentioned it, but Hizballah has attacked UNIFIL observers twice this week. (Hat tip: Larry.)

From the UN’s own press releases:

24 July 2006:

One unarmed UN military observer, a member of the Observer Group Lebanon (OGL), was seriously wounded by small arms fire in the patrol base in the Marun Al Ras area yesterday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, the fire originated from the Hezbollah side during an exchange with the IDF. He was evacuated by the UN to the Israeli side, from where he was taken by an IDF ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Haifa. He was operated on, and his condition is now reported as stable.

Notice: in this instance, the UN observer was injured badly enough to be evacuated to an Israeli hospital. Where they saved his life.

Not a word of condemnation from Kofi Annan for Hizballah. And not a word of gratitude for Israel, for saving a UN peacekeeper’s life.

25 July 2006:

This morning, Hezbollah opened small arms fire at a UNIFIL convoy consisting of two armored personnel carriers (APC) on the road between Kunin and Bint Jubayl. There was some damage to the APCs, but no casualties, and the convoy was obliged to return to Kunin.

And again..From today’s United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon press release (PDF), more reports of Hizballah using UN posts as cover for attacks:

There were three incidents of firing close to UN positions in the last 24 hours from the Israeli side. It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of four UN positions at Marwahin, Alma Ash Shab, Brashit, and At Tiri.

Mainstream media is completely ignoring these reports, and issuing a flood of articles like this one: Security Council expresses shock at peacekeeper deaths, no condemnation.

Obviously. And it's working. Kofi's too busy damning Israel for accidentally hitting a U.N. outpost and calling for a pointless ceasefire to focus on Iran. I wonder if Ahmadinejad plays chess because he's playing Kofi, and the world, like Garry Kasparov. Check & mate.

Hezbollah are the main defense force in Lebanon at the moment. The UN is attempting to stop an invasion. You do the math. They're going to be in the same logistical places. Alternatively you might not have considered the whole "flags and ambassadorial presence" issue either.

As compared to what is now THREE invasions of Lebanon by the Israeli military and significantly higher casualties of Lebanese civilians at the Israeli hands? Casualty rates this time are now 1 Israeli to every 20 Lebanese civilians.

I personally think that Iran ordered thier puppet to start this conflict to remove the increasing pressure and scrutiny of Irans nuclear weapons program.
Because full blown invasion is an obvious reaction to the kidnapping of 2 soldiers?

Neither the mainstream media nor Kofi Annan have mentioned it, but Hizballah has attacked UNIFIL observers twice this week.
And Hezbollah isn't a member of the UN, nor do they have an official relation with them, so it doesn't amount to killing their own people - unlike Israel and the UN.

I guess you need to add up the Isreali and American and other UN members casualties over the last 20 or more years to achieve a proper persepective on that comparision. Why don't you do that?
3 Invasions over 60 years is not much considering the destruction of various Islamic groups to the region. Keep your eye on the prize next time you choose to comment on something you know nothing about.

I was talking in respect to Lebanon alone. Israel's done considerably more than that. And within Israel (especially in the settlement zones), non-Jews are treated as second-class citizens.

In fact, as of 2003 (I haven't got more recent data unfortunately), no Israeli had ever been convicted for murder of an Arab, despite the fact that they regularly slaughter them wholesale in the occupied territories. 10:1 is the general rule of thumb - 10 Arabs to every 1 Jew.

Kewl; if it's true then I hope this conflict lasts for a very long time. Thats just about the same ratio of Arabs to Jews. The Future looks so bright; I gotta wear shades!
