Worst...President...Ever

And this, Mr. Carter, is why you're an idiot who only served one term. Mr. Peanut wants the government to be an open book. That we should know everything they're doing. What a dumbass. Could you imagine this man running the country in today's world? Scares the shit out of me.

Also, that poll he talks about? It was conducted by a group called Sunshine Week. An organization who's mission it is to make the government on open book about everything. I wonder how "fair and balanced" the poll is?

Umm... you're scared by the prospect of knowing what the government is ACTUALLY doing... and therefore don't want to know?

No, what scares me is that this man is so weak. This man trying to fight a global war on terrorism is a horrible idea. He think people should know everything the government's doing, and that's a dangerous outlook. During W.W.II, and I'm just guessing here, but someone like Jimmy Carter would have demanded that the government release the code for the Indian code talkers. Because that was a government secret.

That's bollocks and you know it.

Government transparency doesn't require that we know the intimate details - just that we're aware of what's going on. The Bush Administration denounces anyone who even lets the general outline of what's being done be available to the public.

Take the wiretapping thing. Did the NY Times release the specific trigger words that would cause your call to be picked up? Uhhh - no. Did they release anything AT ALL that "the terrorists" wouldn't have already known? No! All they released was the information that the government had been using wiretaps to trace potential suspects without warrants. Shock horror. They obviously hate America - because they're willing to actually ask if the government is bypassing a required legal check.

Take the more recent money tracing thing. The fact that the US government had been tracing money transactions internationally was already publicly available. Bush himself had talked about the "terrorist" funds that they'd managed to confiscate because of it (although he failed to mention the fact that most of it was returned due to lack of evidence). Nothing amazingly sensational, yet apparently it's enough for Bush to condemn the NY Times' actions, and for some Republicans to put forward the suggestion of treason!

OR take Guantanamo - for heaven's sake, we didn't even have a list of prisoner names until, what? Late last year? And have any charges actually been brought against them, so people can have some idea of the reasons they're being detained, or what the hell they were doing? Go right ahead and call them terrorists all you want, but until any evidence is actually brought forward it's just mindless ranting.

And so on and so forth. You put a lot of faith in a government who have consistently been shown to have decreased both the rights AND security of Americans, and repeatedly lied to you.

Za, Za, Za. What it must be like to have such a warped mind.

I don't know Chris - why don't you tell me? Apparently the fact that people can be arrested these days for raising their voice at baggage handlers hasn't got you worried... so what's it like to have such a warped mind?

I also note you make no comment in your latest post about the fact that it was probably conservatives who took away the title. Curse the vile liberal media for letting us know what's going on.

No; Cursed be Socialist/Marxist activists like you ZA; for aiding and abieting the terrorists of the world who would kill you and your family without even saying thank you. Shilling for their causes and spreading thier propaganda is dispicable.

John, the "terrorists of the world" as you put it, were funded by the US to remove socialism. Or did you forget that it was US foreign policy to prevent Middle Eastern nations from becoming politically moderate during the Cold War?

It's not "terrorist propaganda", it's the facts of what is going on. Many people have been taken to court because they backtalked to baggage handlers. Many people have been detained without charge by the US government, only to be released because they were completely innocent to begin with. You are slowly losing your rights, and you don't give a damn. That's despicable.
