Fighting For Our Rights On This Day Of Independence

233 years ago the citizens of this, then, upstart nation were fighting for their independence and their rights. How screwed up is it that today we're having to once again fight for those rights from a government bent on taking them away. Wake up, and stand up people. Remember what exactly it is this day is all about. It's not about grilling burgers and hot dogs. It's not about popping fireworks. It's not about spending the weekend at the lake. It's not about watching a marathon of your favorite tv show or getting the best deal on a car or microwave. It's about taking a stand and not letting our lives be controlled.

It's not like america's tyranny problem started at the last election... but I seem to recall a remarkable silence from these parts to trouble the previous administration(s) caused... in fact, I remember president forest gump getting a good send-off from RWRM.

What did Thomas Jefferson have to say about those who waited until tyranny 'gained a foothold' (...set-up base camp, crack itself a cold beer, and set to some hardcore tyrannical activities), and then complained when tyranny might be looking to take a holiday?

I understand about an 'upstart nation were fighting for their independence and their rights', but that was 233? years ago. While retaining the 'upstart' attitude, America has forgotten that it no longer has to worry about the English colonial threat, to the extent that it's almost impossible to tell the difference between how the US's regards its friends and foes.

You don't need to be a liberal to be unimpressed with america's foreign policy - you only need conservative values and live somewhere other than the US to think 'who the hell do these a-holes think they are?'

Why does much of the world prefer Obama to previous US presidents? ...because he's the first who shows signs of regarding allies as allies, not lower priority enemies (or more accurately, the same way the English regarded america 233 years ago).
