Regrets, I've Had A Few

Do you have any regrets in life? Something you wish you had or hadn't done? I have a few, but really the main one is not telling this girl in our Senior year how I felt about her. She sat behind me in Chemistry and I had a MASSIVE crush on her. But being very introverted and painfully shy, there was no chance in Hell of actually talking to her. Although, on the very last day of school I did work up enough courage to ask her to trade Senior photos and sign each others yearbooks. Still, to this day, twelve years later, I wonder what she's doing and wish I'd had the courage to talk to her.
I saw on Fox & Friends this morning that a school, I think it was in Georgia, is letting students read any book they want to do reports on rather than just the "classics". I can't find a link anywhere for this story though. Honestly, I think this is a good idea. I mean, isn't the whole point to get kids to read? Does it really matter what they're reading? And who's to say that To Kill A Mockingbird or Moby Dick are better than The Dark Tower or Harry Potter? I remember in 10th grade we had to read A Tale Of Two Cities. The teacher put a tape in and we had to follow along in the book. I fell asleep each day we did this. They were the most boring hours of my life. If a kid has no interest in Charles Dickens or Mark Twain then they're not going to be engrossed in their books. They're not going to care about some cranky old man who sees the error of his ways or a jumping frog.

Al Gore May Have Invented It, But Obama Will Control It

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

This Is A Little Scary

The bill gives the Public Health Commissioner the discretion to respond to an outbreak of the kind that's going on in Mexico. To close or evacuate buildings, to enter private property, isolate or quarantine people.
What was it that Rahm Emanuel said? "Rule One: Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things." And Hillary Clinton? "Never waste a good crisis." Can't help but wonder if the federal government will follow suit.

Isn't it darling how this Reuters reporter tries to make it seem as if it's A-Jad's decision to add a woman to his cabinet rather than Khamenei's.

The Progress Of A Man's Political Views

The years is 1996. Bill Clinton is running for reelection. I had just turned 17 and am unable to vote. Not that it really matters as I'm not all that interested in politics. Yet. I have views but they had yet to be settled. I knew I didn't like Clinton, and when he won I felt personally cheated. That was the moment when I finally felt I had a vested interest in what going on in Washington. But let's go back further for just a moment. When I was younger, I was more Liberal in my thinking. I wasn't against abortion. I'd falling into the "my body, my choice" BS. I wasn't big on the military. And, like many adolescents in the 90's, I was apathetic towards my country. So then comes 1996 and Clinton winning reelection. I was angry. While I still had no political affiliation, I had been rooting for Dole. So then comes 1997. I turn 18 and an finally eligible to vote. I register as an Independent. I was a Conservative, but I had no party to tie myself to. That next year I finally get my chance to vote. It was mid-term election and we would be voting for the Governor of Oklahoma. I debated on whether or not I should wear a tie to my first election. I decided against it. So, I go vote, secure in the knowledge that the man I was voting for would win. He did not. Disappointing, but not crushing. Now, fast forward to 2000. My first BIG election. Now, I wish I could tell you when it was that I finally decided to become a Republican but I can't. It just happened. So I re-register as such and gear myself up for the big one. I go and cast my ballot for George W. Bush. Then all hell breaks loose. It drags on and on and on until he's finally declared winner. Then come four years of Nazi and retard and evil and on and on. Only solidifying my view that I had picked the right party because I didn't want to be a part of a party that would do such things. 2001. The worse day in American history. Things finally clicked. Over the next few years I was seeing what this country stood for and what our military was capable of. My views of the military and this country that I had had during my adolescents were gone. I finally had a true sense of pride. 2003. I start my blog and my views become even more harden as I'm able to finally express them properly. Then comes 2004. I'm still a proud Republican. George W. Bush stomps John Kerry and is reelected. I'm elated, because I felt that Kerry would have been the worse possible person to ever be president. The past seven months have proven me wrong. Then comes four more years of Nazi and retard and evil and terrorist. I'm getting burned out on politics by then. In 2006 I debated whether or not to vote in the mid-terms. I ultimately did. But the ride was over. Republicans had screwed things up too much for too long and they go slapped down. Not a surprise, but I wasn't too happy. Then comes 2008 and the moment for many Republicans when things changed. And I'm no exception. George W. Bush and the AIG bailouts. Things had been building up for a long time, and this was that final straw on that camel's back. That one moment in time is when many Republicans finally woke up and saw our true government. Many left the party. I am one of those. I am still a proud Conservative, but I am no longer affiliated with the Republican party. I'm still registered as one, but only because I'm too lazy the change it back to Independent. So Barack Obama is elected and in a very short time attempts to expand the government to unprecedented levels. Angering many Americans. Myself included.

So, where do I go from here? I consider myself a Traditionalist Conservative. I have no party, but would call myself Independent with Libertarian leanings. And I am more angry and frustrated than I've ever been in my life. But I see a light. The people are finally standing up and demanding that their voices be heard. I think that if they can overcome a media and government that's trying to tear them down, this country will be fine.

Joke Time

An airplane is going down. Everyone knows they're going to die, so a woman stands up and yells "If I'm going to die, I want someone to make me feel like a woman one last time. Who here is willing to do that?" Well, everyone on the plane is in panic and can only stare at her. Then one guy in the back of the plane stands up and starts walking up the aisle towards the woman. He's big and handsome with flowing brown hair and piercing hazel eyes. As he's walking towards her he starts unbuttoning his shirt. And this guy is ripped. Muscles bulging everywhere. He says "I'll make you feel like a woman". So he hands her his shirt and says "Now, iron this and get me a beer."

I'm A Lot Of Things

I'm full of fake anger. I'm being organized by some faceless entity. I'm an opponent of health care reform. I'm racist. I'm un-American. I'm a Soccer fan. What? That last one doesn't belong. There's nothing wrong with loving footie. Damn you Congress.

Obama's Health Adviser

How's that adage go? "You can judge a man by the company he keeps". Or something like that. Well, this is the company our president keeps. This must be why we have so much fake anger.

Also, if someone could find me a roundup of all of Obama's czars, who they are, what they believe and such, that would be great.

To Catch A Misinformer

This government doing something illegal? BS I say. They never would. I mean, this Andrew Napolitano guy works for Faux News. That's all we need to know. He's a liar. President Obama is a great man and these astroturfing neo-Cons trying to tear him down have to be turned in. The just can't accept that the country is back on track and everything is running smoothly. I think I need to turn myself in to the government for my past transgressions.

The New Klan Rallies

"I think they are Astroturf ... you be the judge. They're carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care." - Nancy Pelosi

Really? That's where she's taking this debate? Should it surprise anyone? There've been no swastikas or any Nazi symbols at these town hall meetings. Yet. Anyone willing to wager that some will conveniently start showing up now that she's made this claim?

Message To Washington

Go ahead. Continue to ignore us. Ridicule us. Tell us our anger is fake. Use words like "mob" and "astroturf". You go ahead and keep doing these things so that, come 2010 & 2012, when you loose your jobs, you can sit around and wonder what happened. We've sat by for far too many years and let you destroy this country. No more. Yes, there are a few crazies out there spouting off about Obama's birth certificate that you like to exploit. But those nutjobs are the Cindy Sheehan's of this movement. Most of us are people like me. People who don't like where you're taking us. People who work hard and don't like you taking what we've earned and giving it to someone who hasn't. People who are sick and tired of you taking our tax dollars and giving them to you cronies as payments for their help in getting you elected. We're tired of being talked down to. Tired of being lied to. Tired of having our voices ignored. So if we have to shout you down at a town hall meeting, then that's what we're going to do. Obama promised change and I guarantee that's what we're going to get. Because we're starting to see the light, and what you've been hiding from it. And we don't like it. Your time is coming to an end.

His parents didn't want him to enlist, but it was his passion for helping people that led L/Cpl. Jeremy Tamburello to the military. "He was a very noble, very compassionate, very brave man" said L/Cpl. Tamburello's father, Kevin. "He knew that he was going to have to go to Iraq and he knew that he might die, but he went anyway."

CARS.gov Update

The government has removed the notice from the website. It doesn't necessarily mean they've stopped hijacking private computers, it just means that dealers won't see the warning any more. This all started because one concerned citizen contacted Beck and that set off the firestorm. No longer are we going to just sit back and let the government screw us over as they've been doing for years.

Why So Socialist?

Posters of Obama in Joker makeup with the word "socialism" have been popping up in Los Angeles. I like the piece from Bedlam Magazine.
The Joker white-face imposed on Obama's visage has a sort of malicious, racist, Jim Crow quailty to it...
Always right to racism. It's not because the Joker is a dangerous character and the person who created this poster might believe Obama to be dangerous. No. He's just a racist. Unless he turns out to be Black, then he'll be a race traitor. And then again this might just all be a stunt to get people crazy. Like me. Who knows. But the one they claim is from Atlanta is Photoshopped.
