Nuclear Iran?

Iranian figurehead, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has announced that Iran is now a nuclear state. Not sure how much of this is true, but it's now time to take a stand. How will the powers that be handle this? Will they continue with their toothless threats of sanctions? More than likely. I've said in the past that I don't have the answers. I don't know what the right thing to do is. But I happen to agree with Glenn Beck that attacking them would possibly be the worst thing we could do considering their views on the 12th Imam. Maybe working with the protesters to help overthrow their leadership and give them what Obama promised us. Hope and Change.

I agree we should not attack Iran and other than morally supporting the protests I don’t think we should get directly involved. It could jeopardize the legitimacy of their efforts.

Sanctions are really the only thing we can and should do. It’s unlikely that China or Russia will support these – which is what we would really need to make them effective – but the more we isolate Iran the harder it is for the current regime to govern.

I've been gone a while so I thought I'd stop by! I agree that Iran is trying to provoke war and we should definitely not give them what they want. We need to support the Iranian dissidents that are struggling for freedom. That is really the only good option left. War would be a nightmare, sanctions wont's work because of the stupid Chinese and Russians are in bed with Iran, and the UN is a joke. Regime change is the best of the solutions left on the list. Unfortunately, Obama is about as good at foreign policy as he is at speaking without a teleprompter. I don't see the Iran thing ending well. Hopefully someone else can step up to the plate, or is working behind the scenes, to diffuse this crisis.

SSG E, with regard to Obama speaking without a teleprompter... how do you explain the fact that he was able to take questions and speak intelligently about GOP policies for over an hour with Republicans at a recent Republican conference in MD (all without a teleprompter)? The more this claim is made the more out of touch with reality it sounds.

Relax, its just a good natured jab.

Did you not hear him calling corpsmen "corpsemen" more than once in a speech he gave WITH a teleprompter?

A good natured jab would have been somewhat original.

You don’t like the President – and that is perfectly fine. But let’s not pretend your jab was in any way good natured.

First of all it's nice to be back. Secondly, you seem to be in a bad mood. Finally, I have never had a problem personally with the prez. Also, why would a good natured jab have to be original? And, are we really talking about this in a thread entitled "Nuclear Iran?"
Good times, good times.
