EVIL CORPERATIONS
Damn these evil, heartless corperations anyway. How dare they try and confuse us with their donations to the victims of hurricane Katrina.

Wal-Mart - $15 million

Johnson & Johnson - $250,000 in supplies
Abbott Laboratories Inc - $2 million cash and $2million in nutritional and medical products
Chevron Corp., big oil - $5 million
JPMorgan Chase & Co. - $3 million
Citigroup - $3 million
Pfizer - $2 million
State Farm - $1 million
Disney - $2.5 million
Nissan North America - 50 trucks to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency
Anheuser-Busch - 825,000 cans of water
Sprint Nextel Corp - 3,000 walkie talkie-type phones for emergency personnel
Kellogg Co. - seven truckloads of crackers and cookies
General Motors - 25 cars and trucks to the Red Cross
Qwest Communications International Inc. - 2,000 long distance cards for victims to call their familes & $250,000
Home Depot and Lowes - cash and manpower
Culligan International - five truckloads of water
Office Depot - $1million + $4 million is supplies

'Cause if you're trying to bag out "socialist Democrats" or some such nonsense, then you really don't get the profit motive at all.

I'm not trying to "bag" anyone, whatever tha means. There's a misguided notion that corperations are evil and don't care about anyone, and you just proved it by thinking the only reason they're doing this is for profit. They couldn't possible be doing this because people are in need. No. Think the of the good press they could get. And I bet if the majority of the victims where White they would have donated double what they did.

I didn't say they only did it for profit - I said you don't understand the profit motive. Completely different topic.

The profit motive only applies to two things:
1) internal corporate affairs, and
2) removing competition.

So that's why I was pointing out that your rousing on anti-corporates was a misunderstanding. Corporations donate all the time. Doesn't mean they don't screw their workers through the nose (yes, I did intend that imagery) and exploit the 3rd world.
