PAPER FLAGS AND PLASTIC CROSSES
I just finished watching a documentary about W on Sundance, and surprisingly it remained fair. I know, I'm shocked as well. It was about how the religious right helped him become president. Anyway, it talked some about how Bush has shown that religion and politics do mix. About how embracing religion can help, and something kept running through my mind. they're right. We see it today with the Left. We see them now somewhat embracing religion and somewhat embracing the flag. They've seen that it worked for Bush and now they want to be a part of it, only one problem. They're not genuine. Do they expect the country to except that after decades of denying religion and spitting on the flag that now, all of the sudden, they've had a real change of heart. That they're not doing this for political gain. But here's the sad thing, there're are people who believe it. They're called Democrats. They saw John Kerry as the 2004 Democratic National Convention wrapping himself in his paper flags, showing his "love" for this country. They see Hillary going around carrying her plastic cross pretending to be a moderate, maybe even a little to the Right, and they believe it's real. They really show that Lincoln was right.

Um... Chris, hate to break it to you, but Bush is about as geniune to the right-wing evangelicals as the "left" are.

Contrast this from 2003 with this from 2004.

Honestly, the right-wing evangelicals had a big furor earlier this year because Bush wasn't coming through on his election campaign - they basically told him that he doesn't get any of their support at all in the future unless he makes a move on the homosexuality thing.

And there's the whole fact that you couldn't get anything Jesus said to coincide with right-wing policy unless you lifted individual words out of the bible to create whole new sentences.
