VOICE OF THE LEFT 2
From Them Democratic Underground.
"I had no idea how deeply my hate for that man ran. My lack of an interaction, with a * supporter is still haunting me a couple of hours later.

I was on my home and was on the ramp getting off the highway. I saw a mini-van on the side of the road. There was a lady standing next to the van and in her arms she held her child. I can only assume her mini-van had broken down. I don't know, perhaps with so many gad stations being out of gas, she had also run out. I slowed down and started to pull over to offer her a ride. At the very last second I noticed a "W" sticker on the back of her vehicle and I sped up and drove off.

I feel really bad as a human being. That child is not responsible for their parent's belief system. They are innocent and do not deserve to be out in the heat. (It is warm but not so bad that they would even break a sweat) I try not to punish people for what they believe.

On the other hand, so many hateful thoughts went through my head. I wondered how a person could see what was going on in NO and still have one of those awful stickers on their car. How could they support an awful excuse for a human being that has let our country down and is letting Americans die after they have made it through the storm? How can someone be so blind and so stupid?

I thought that if she loves * so much, maybe he would come along and help her the same way he is rescuing all of those poor people in the weather stricken part of our country. Let's see what her hero can do for her.

I never did go back. I was so upset with that sticker and with the fact that someone would support an idiot who is so clearly running our country into the ground.

So why am I writing this? It is not to boast, I really feel bad about passing this child and not picking up their mother. Perhaps it is for a catharsis of sorts? That would be an educated guess. I suppose it is because I feel conflicted and I am writing this to try and sort through what I am feeling. There are two emotional sides, for me, on this incident and neither seems completely right or wrong to me. Even writing this, I am still not able to work through what happened. I feel like I am floating between right and wrong and am unable to grab either side.

Thanks for listening."
Doesn't surprise me. That's a Lefty for you.

I have my own Kerry supporter story. Had to take my dog to get groomed today, and while there I saw a car there that still had a Kerry sticker in the window. I guess this woman is still dealing with P.E.S.T. Anyway, I walk into the office and she's leaving her dog at the kennel because she's about to go away for a week to sail around the British Virgin Islands. Man, it must be nice to be a rich Democrat and be able to sail the Virgin Islands, what with the price of gas skyrocketing and people needing to band together to help those in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Thanks John.

Hang on - price of gas skyrocketing... wouldn't that be making Bush's cabinet rich?

I mean, you hardly come out of those families (or being the head of Haliburton) without a fistfull of oil company shares, now do you?

Thats not even what the article was about. Care to address the level of hatred? That was what the article was about. Also if you check the stock market; Oil company stocks have been trading moderate to low. This is because in my opinion the volitile oil futures market. Have you checked the employment histories of every cabinet member? Only 3 in the entire cabinet have had any past in the oil market including the President.

Hey - I've gone sailing around the Virgin Islands - what's wrong with that? You have to plan that far in advance - it's a vacation damn it. Yes, bad timing, but do you just not go?

FYI - It's actually not expensive compared to most "vacations" that involve air travel (if she is bare boating, which she probably is - that's where everyone goes to bare boat). For over a week of sailing, it's usually ~$500 which includes all food, but not including airfare (which for someone who travels for a living, you can use miles for the airfare).

Okay - this person who drove past the mother and child with the "W" car is a moron. Don't care what he is - lefty, whatever. He doesn't speak for me, and does not *speak* for the majority of liberals in his actions, that's for sure.

I have not taken a vacation in more than 6 years now. The last one was my honeymoon. I got too much work to do.

Damn, wish I could afford $500 to blow like that, but I have things called bills and expences that take up all my money.

John, only 6 years? Try 15 years.

Chris - you are also still young. (Don't know how old John K is). Only 26 years old. No vacations in the past 15 years - you were only 11 years old then! When I was 26, I also did not take vacations because of lack of funds. Just wait - when you are older, the vacations will come......not many, but a few here and there.

And when I was 26, I certainly could not afford to take my dog to a groomer! That didn't start happening until I was ~38.

Before my Honeymoon (obligatory vacation); I had not taken one since I was on leave in the Army. That was 1982. So from 1982 till 2000; I did not take a vacation at all. Not even once. Does that make you feel better Chris?

John, you obviously missed what I was aiming at. I was aiming at Chris's Kerry supporter story.

By the by, doesn't matter how the stocks are trading, as long as the price of oil is high, the dividends would be paying off like nothing else.

Oh, and as GRR says - one lefty doesn't speak for all lefties.

Also, the furthest I've been on holidays is Queensland to visit my grandparents. The most "vacation" I ever get is a few weeks of sleep, or Christmas holidays at my mother's or grandparent's in Melbourne.

I understand what you are saying about dividends, but usually a stock does not pay dividends unless it is trading above its rated value according to an index. Right now..things are not looking good for an individual with oil company stock.(talk of the oil bubble etc) Now if you have mutual fund shares with an emphasis on index funds in the petrolium sector..your making cash hand over fist. (major emphasis on US companies not world markets.)

If you are gambling in the oil futures market; you winning..for now..but you will be losing next week. I guarantee it. (disclaimer: John K is not a financial expert or planner on items mentioned in the post; he just plays one on TV.)
Hence the reason I can never take a vacation. I have a wife to feed.

And since she grew up poor...she eats..ALOT... (DISCLAIMER II: If this post is shown to my wife; all knowledge of this post will be quickly un-claimed.)

and noone can proove it..

Well oil stocks would be very strange at the moment. The price of their stocks would be dropping, but the company's profits would be soaring.

That'd give reasonable dividends, would it not?

Anonymous said...

I do not think the profits are soaring because of the world crude market being so high priced.

That gives oil companies an incentive to jack up their prices too though, giving them leeway in which to make an extra buck.
