I Need A Favor

As you read in the post below, I've been having some trouble with my connection. But I'm beginning to wonder if that's the real problem. Because some sites will load just fine. Like Best Buy, Yahoo, Barnes & Noble and IMDB. While some won't. Like Amazon, Netflix and TinyPic. Could someone log on to those four sites and see if they load for you. I want to know if it's just me or what, because it's strange that some load fine and others don't. I was conversing with someone I know in China and he's having trouble with his connection because of the recent earthquake that hit the region and I'm wondering if maybe that could be causing the problem. A far reach, I know, but worth a shot.

They're all good from here.
Maybe it's something to do with the way your ISP routes traffic and the physical location of the hosting of those sites?

... alternatively (more likely), it could be something about the construction of those pages that stops them opening on your computer.
Have you changed settings/installed/re-installed software, OS, etc?

They seem to be loading better today. Netflix came right up while TinyPic had a small problem, but nothing big. Now Amazon loading with a few problems, but it loaded. Then when I tried to view an item it stopped.

This all started when I installed Firefox 2.0.0.1. I thought about going back to FF2 but I'm not sure how without loosing my settings and things. Do I just re-install it?

Note: If you have the new IE 7 installed; it has been designed to cause major conflicts when using any of the FireFox products.

while IE is a virus magnet, firefox v2.x has some problems (hogs memory).
"If you have the new IE 7 installed"
I've got IE7 installed on one machine (as a component of Vista, it can be removed , but I haven't yet), and firefox (my preferred browser) hasn't caused any problems (yet!)
I've heard that the firefox v2.x problem(s) will happen on machines with IE6 ass well, it seeems pretty widespread, almost random.

It's the kind of thing that you need to go through 'taskmanager' looking for CPU usage and memory usage, and googling the files/processes affected.

Some people who can't be bothered tracking-down the problem (that will probably take a fixed version of FF to solve) are just uninstalling FF v2.x and installing FF v1, Opera, or others.
Good Luck!
