Great Christmas Song

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas holiday is in full swing. If you're looking for good Christmas music, other than the same old boring traditional stuff, then you should pick up a copy of a song called Merry Christmas From The Family by Robert Earl Keen.

Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
Make Bloody Mary's
Cause We All Want One!
Send somebody to the Stop 'N Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprites
A box of tampons, some Salem Lights
Haleluja, everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the Family

It's one of the funniest songs I've ever heard. There's another one I like that's a parody of the 12 Days Of Christmas but I don't know who does it. It talks about batteries for toys and has someone doing an impersonation of Archie Bunker saying "Oh jeeze". If anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about could you let me know the name of the song?

Can't Quite Put My Finger On It

Why does Pink Floyd's song Mother remind me of Barack Obama?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry
Mama's gonna make all of your nightmares come true
Mama's gonna put all of her fears into you
Mama's gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
Mama's gonna keep baby cozy and warm

I can't quite put my finger on it.

And The Countdown Is On

We are now just 30 days away from Christmas. Let the caroling begin. I hope everyone likes the Christmas design this year. I look forward to doing these designs every year and work on them at least three months, so you better like it. Have you started shopping? I'm about done myself.

Another Stem Cell Success Story

A woman in Spain has successfully had her windpipe replaced by one that was grown from her own stem cells. Not embryonic, but adult stem cells.
A 30-year-old Spanish woman has made medical history by becoming the first patient to receive a whole organ transplant grown using her own cells.

Experts said the development opened a new era in surgery in which the repair of worn-out body parts would be carried out with personally customized replacements.

...

Two further patients, from Germany and the United States, are in hospital in Barcelona, awaiting transplants of their windpipes, which had been damaged by cancer, he said. It would take two to three months to grow the replacement organs and "put them in good shape" before operating, he added.

Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody
Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody
55 years old from Fort Belvoir, Virginia
U.S. Army

Call it breaking the brass ceiling. Ann E. Dunwoody, after 33 years in the Army, ascended Friday to a peak never before reached by a woman in the U.S. military: four-star general.

At an emotional promotion ceremony, Dunwoody looked back on her years in uniform, said it was a credit to the Army—and a great surprise to her—that she would make history in a male-dominated military.

"Thirty-three years after I took the oath as a second lieutenant, I have to tell you this is not exactly how I envisioned my life unfolding," she told a standing-room-only auditorium. "Even as a young kid, all I ever wanted to do was teach physical education and raise a family.

"It was clear to me that my Army experience was just going to be a two-year detour en route to my fitness profession," she added. "So when asked, `Ann, did you ever think you were going to be a general officer, to say nothing about a four-star?' I say, `Not in my wildest dreams.'

"There is no one more surprised than I—except, of course, my husband. You know what they say, `Behind every successful woman there is an astonished man.'"

You can read the rest of Gen. Dunwoody's story here.

Some Votes Should Not Count

It's amazing that these people are allowed to vote for the president. If you're too stupid to know the answers to these basic questions, you should not be allowed to vote. This isn't an indictment of Obama voters. This is an indictment of our culture. Some are just too dumb to know or just don't care to know.

Project Valour-IT

They need money for a very important cause. I put up the one for the Army because I contribute over at Hooah Wife, an Army blog, but they have this fundraiser for all branches of service.

The People's Album

Venezuelan dictator, Hugo Chavez, is releasing an album. I, your humble blogger, have been able to procure an advanced copy of his album.

It's a Techno/Dance album and DJ Vez, has he likes to be called, is pretty good. He can lay down some pretty phat beats. Some hard, fast, driving songs on here. There are only six songs on the disk, but it runs just under 45 minutes, so you get plenty of music. Below is the track listing.

1. Fidels Groove
2. Rights Are Overrated
3. Viva La Revolution (DJ Guevara Mix)
4. Heartache
5. Big Dick.Tator
6. Socialist Dream (Barack Obama Change 2008 Remix)

Heartache is a strange song. It's sort of a love song. Odd that it would be here, but it works. Viva La Revolution is good. But Socialist Dream is the best one. You really feel the hope coming through. "Fear Not/We're Here To Help/Blind Like A Sheep/It's All Under Control". Amazing. This is an Album Of The Year candidate for sure.

Star Trek Movie News 18

For those of you who've been waiting for this movie, the wait just got a little harder. Along with the first teaser trailer coming out on Friday with the new Bond movie, Paramount has released the first image of the new Enterprise.

Here's the original from the 60's tv show:

and here's the new one from the movie coming out next year:

I like this thing. It looks like a cross between the Enterprise-A and Enterprise-D.

Cold Weather & Gas Prices

These thing aren't intertwined or anything. I just didn't want to do two posts.

Cold Weather
I don't know if I've ever mentioned it or not, but I'm a cold weather person. When the temps start to dip into the 40's, that's when I'm happy. Today's been a cold rainy day and I'm just not use to it yet. I've got my heater running as well as a little space heater I have. I need a couple of more weeks to acclimate myself.

Gas Prices
Not sure what the prices are in your area, but around my little corner of Oklahoma they around $1.75/gallon and lower in some areas. If they keep dropping the way they have we could be under $1/gallon by the end of the year. I don't think they'll go that low, but we could get close.

Backward Rednecks

Oklahoma is full of backwards looking fools who can't handle Change. At least in the eyes of David Averill. I love living here more than ever now. Every county went Republican this year. We're not fooled by the empty, undefined promise of "Change". Republicans, if you want to live in a solid Red state, although we have a Democrat for Gov., come to Oklahoma. We'll make this our electoral equivalent of California.
The big question hanging over the presidential vote in Oklahoma is whether and to what extent the vote against Obama was based on race.
You gotta throw race in there.

Operation Christmas Tree

It's time to off your butts get into the Christmas spirit. Head over here and donate to send a Christmas tree to the troops fighting overseas. They're $25. Yes, that's some cash. Especially this close to Christmas and this economy, but if it can help put a smile on the face of a hero isn't it worth it? The deadline is Nov. 29. They want 7,000 trees, but they're only gotten less than a 1,000 donations so far. Get over there.

CNN Sucks

Not because of their Left leaning bias, but because they're boring. I was stuck yesterday with nothing to watch but CNN. All day. They are one of the most boring channels on tv. There's no punch to their coverage of the news and their presentation is horrible. Say what you will about FNC, at least their exciting and fun to watch. There's real energy on that network. The hosts are actually having a good time. And that's one of the reasons why they're #1. CNN is like that old 13" b&w tv your parents/grandparents use to have. It get's the job done, but no thank you. If you ever need a cure for insomnia, watch Wolf Blitzer. You'll be out in 10 minutes.

U.S. Army

Cpt. Gussie Jones was born in Arkansas and was one of eight children. She began her Army career by enlisting in 1988 as a personnel clerk and climbed to the rank of a sergeant.

In 1986, Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Arkansas Central University. She was selected to attend the Army Enlisted Commissioning Program and earned her second bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1998. It was in nursing.

Her career as a registered nurse and a commissioned officer began in September 1998 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. In 2002, after completing a course in critical-care nursing, she was assigned to Beaumont Army Medical Center, where she became a mentor.

"She was a very dedicated person and was always smiling, said a co-worker and friend, Capt. Susan Gilbert. If anyone asked her to do something, she would do it. And she was very kind and gentle and patient with the patients."

Cpt. Jones died of a heart attack while on duty in Baghdad, Iraq. During her 15 years of military services, Jones received a Joint Service Commendation medal, four Army Commendation medals and three Army Achievement medals.

"She was so much a part of their team, and so her death must really affect their morale," Gilbert said. "I'm very worried about the other soldiers because they've lost their battle buddy."

Staring Down The Double Barrels Of Trouble

We should fear a President Obama. If he wins on Tuesday, or whatever day the election is finally called, he will end up screwing us big time.
Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.
And that, my friends, is the basis of Socialism. Companies have to pay more, so they in turn jack up their prices and we end up being the ones who get screwed.
