And Then I Woke Up

I had a dream last night that I was back in school, the horror, and I had to give a speech about President Andrew Jackson. Not my favorite president. Anyway, during this dream I came to an actual epiphany of sorts. We all know, or at least I hope we do, about the Trail Of Tears. While most people associate it with the Cherokee tribe, there were others who suffered through these death marches, it's just that the Cherokee Trail Of Tears was the largest and most costly. Anyhoo, in the dream I realized that because of Andrew Jackson I almost wasn't here. Something like 15,000 Cherokee, not sure of the exact number, were forced off their land and moved across the country, and of those some 4,000 died. At least one of my ancestors survived this horrific event and because of that miracle I am here today. If he/she had died... It's amazing and a little scary to think about.
