Korean War 60th Anniversary

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Armistice that ended hostilities between North & South Korea. On July 27th the Department of Defense 60th Anniversary Committee has organized a National Commemoration Ceremony to take place in Washington, D.C. to honor the men and women who fought and served during the war. There will also be VFW "Pancakes for Patriots" breakfasts across the country as well as viewing parties for the those who are unable to make it to Washington for the ceremony. This has a somewhat special meaning for me because my dad enlisted in the Army during the Korean War but he was never sent overseas. He would occasionally talk about how he and a friend, on a whim, decided to enlist one day. He passed away before I really had the chance to ask him anything about his service so I don't know if that story's even true. He also joked that he served with Elvis, so...

If you'd like more information on the commemoration ceremony, the breakfasts or anything you can visit KoreanWar60.com. And if you could please pass this along to your readers or on FB or Twitter.
