This post is dedicated to the men and woman who have served and are serving in the United States military. I've never been in the armed forces, so I don't even pretend to know everything you go through or the sacrifices you have made or are making. But my father was in the Army during the Korean War so I have tremendous respect for you and what you do for us. I just wanted to let you know that you have people back home who love, support and respect you and who wish you a safe and speedy return. You sacrifice everything in your lives for people you don't even know. You may not call yourselves heroes, but that's what you are.
NEW MONTH, NEW ARTIST
This months featured artist is the absolute best band to come out of the 60's. Pink Floyd. With Syd Barrett's, before LSD drove him mad, lyrics on albums Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and Relics. Then later bassist Roger Waters took over as lead vocalist on albums such as UmmaGumma, Atom Heart Mother and Dark Side Of The Moon, which holds the record as the longest charting album. 1,285 weeks, or 25 years and recently cracked the top 200 yet again. The smooth, melodic piano of Richard Wright, amazing drum work of Nick Mason and, in my honest opinion, one of the greatest guitar players ever David Gilmour it's easy to see why Pink Floyd has become the legendary band they have.
RANDOM LYRICS
If you're never listened to Pink Floyd, or any psychedelic band for that matter, then you'll really be confused by some of the lyrics over the next month. But it's only their early work that's really strange.
Mother, should I run for President?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Ooooowaa Is it just a waste of time?
Hush, my baby. Baby, don't you cry.
Momma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true.
Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you.
Momma's gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Momma's gonna keep Baby cozy and warm
The Only Thing Necessary For Evil To Triumph
Is For Good Men To Do Nothing
