It's A Legal Matter Baby

The government still want's to get involved in collage Throwball. This isn't the first time we talked about this. And Orrin Hatch is a moron for even wanting the government to get involved. Don't know much about Sen. Hatch, but I hope he isn't out there preaching against the expansion of government. But something tells me his more than likely is.

Specialist Brandon K. Steffy
23 years old from Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan
178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, III Corps
October 29, 2009
U.S. Army

He came into to this world a rather large baby, so big the doctor thought that he’d just walk home with his mother. Brandon was well mannered, polite, and tough with a contagious laugh that lit up those around him. In 2005 he graduated from Brimley High School and in 2006 enlisted in the United States Army, following a tradition of family military service.

He served in Iraq as a gunner from May 2007 until July 2008 and was deployed to Afghanistan in June 2009 where he was a canine tracker handler for Forward operating Base Fenty Kennel in the Laghman Province. He and his K-9 dog Maci were inseparable, working on tracking terrorists; Maci specialized in tracking the scents of IED making materials.

Spc. Brandon Steffy was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was attacked. His decorations and awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal-Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Spc. Steffy is survived by his wife, daughter, parents and his sister.

Brandon made people laugh and he made them cry. There was not one dry eye at his funeral, from every day townsfolk, to big construction workers to police officers; they all recalled Brandon, this "Gentle Giant." They want everyone to know that if you never knew Brandon, then you really missed out.

Fox News Pwns The World

Fox is the most trusted television news network in the country, according to a new poll out Tuesday.

A Public Policy Polling nationwide survey of 1,151 registered voters Jan. 18-19 found that 49 percent of Americans trusted Fox News, 10 percentage points more than any other network.
Hear that sound? That's the sound of a whole lot of Liberals and Progressives banging their heads against the wall.

Big Winter Storm Coming

We have a chance of a second huge Winter storm coming in on Thursday. Several inches of ice/sleet/snow are possible with significant power outages predicted. Nothing is set in stone yet, so hopefully the forecast will change. If power goes out I'll still be able to update the site via my cell, but hopefully it won't come to that. We just had the snow melt away from the last storm that hit on Christmas Eve so we really don't need another. But two huge storms back to back? I can't recall that ever happening around here before.

Saving Money

I recently went out and got an HDTV. 37" Vizio LCD, and it's NICE. But, because it's a budget brand the sound isn't as good as it could be and white is sometimes too bright but the picture is awesome. Anyway, got the electricity bill a few days ago and it was down almost $30. Got the tv about 2-3 weeks ago, so I don't know if that's why or not. Can they save that much? Going to have to wait until next month to see. But if it is then I urge you to go out and get an LCD TV.

P.S.
Watching nature and space shows is fan-freakin-tastic in HD. Yosemite National Park was breathtaking.

One Year Later

So it's been one year since Change came to Washington. And we're still Hoping for it. The election of Barack Obama was supposed to ring in a new era for America of promise and forward movement. In the year since he's taken over, can anyone say that things have gotten better? No, you can't.

10+% unemployment
14.7 million people unemployed
Failed $787 BILLION "stimulus" bill
139 banks failed
623,918 foreclosures
$12.3 TRILLION debt

If you were to ask people I'm willing to bet that most would say that 2009 was one of the worst years America has ever had. Since Barack Obama took office, things have went from bad to worse. Confidence in government is at record lows. People are pissed off that they're not being listened to, and more pissed off that they're being made fun of and talked down to by the people they elected to represent them. Corruption is still rampant, back room and closed door deals, etc... During the election, someone made this image. What it's supposed to symbolize is that Obama & Biden are the sleeker, smoother, faster, more up to date models while McCain is the old, broken down one and Palin is the dumb one that's fallen off the track. Whoever made this got it partially correct. Obama & Biden have been the smoother, faster ones. They cut those break lines and shoved that sucker into top speed and put it on a collision course to destruction and didn't look back. That's why his approval rating is in the crapper. It's taken Obama only a year to do what it took Bush almost eight.

Stephen Cochran had it all in front of him. Collage, a fiancée and an offer for a professional recording contract. But life had other plans for him. The day was September 11, 2001. "It was just so horrific," Cochran said. "It's like I'd been called. I'd never been pulled so hard to do something."

It may have been the audacity of the attacks, but more likely it was his family's long history of military service that drew him to enlist, he said. Both grandfathers served, as did an uncle and several other relatives.

So he dropped out of college, walked away from the record deal and joined the United States Marine Corps. "I've always been raised very, very patriotic. It's just what I had to do."

After serving in Iraq, he and his entire battalion volunteered to go to Afghanistan with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit where Cochran was injured in an ambush. 20 yards inside Kandahar, the vehicle he was riding in hit an anti-tank mine and he was thrown from the vehicle and broke the five vertebrae in his lower back.

Big Election Today

UPDATED

Don't know if you've heard or not, but there's an election today in the state of Massachusetts that holds some pretty serious ramifications for the country. If Scott Brown is able to pull off the most uphill political battle of all time he could potentially be the vote that saves us from an out of control government.* But like I said, it's an up hill battle. When all is said and done, with so much power at at stake, I think Brown could have this election stolen from him. We'll need to see just how many names show up more than once or how many kids, athletes or dead people voted for Coakley.

*As it turns out, it may not matter if Brown wins or not because Progressives have enough votes to ram whatever they want down our throats. They have more than enough votes in the House and if push comes to shove the Senate has already threatened the "nuclear option" where in they only need 51 votes. So if Scott Brown does win it won't have an impact on the Obama Agenda, but rather it'll be more of a barometer of the will of the people. But they've already shown they don't care about us.

Hail Mary Play

A panicky White House and Democratic allies scrambled Sunday for a plan to salvage their hard-fought health care package in case a Republican wins Tuesday's Senate race in Massachusetts, which would enable the GOP to block further Senate action.

The likeliest scenario would require persuading House Democrats to accept a bill the Senate passed last month, despite their objections to several parts.

When will these morons stop shooting themselves in the foot and realize that they're bleeding out? I was watching parts of President Obama's stumping for Martha Coakley and she went right for the old stand-by of blaming Bush saying that people are angry at the "polices of the past". No, dear lady, we're angry at the policies of the present. The policies that the pariah you're parading out to help you get votes is ramming down our gullets.

Tax For Some But Not All

Now why is the Obama administration only going after those evil banks to recoup "our" money but not the automotive companies? Duh, unions. Unions control the automotive industry and the Union Stooge won't go after them. That's why they're also going to be exempt from the 40% "Cadillac" tax on their health care plans. Change We Can Believe In indeed.

How The Mighty Have Fallen

The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll shows 50% say they would probably or definitely vote for someone else. Fully 37% say they would definitely cast a ballot against Obama. Meanwhile, just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres. to a 2nd term, and only 23% say they definitely would do so.
Whoops. This man has dropped faster than Paris Hilton's underwear, if she wore any, at, well, anywhere men are. I don't know.

There's really no way to describe this song other than it's a late-60's psychedelic song with some great piano work by the late Richard Wright. Pink Floyd founder, and song writer, Syd Barrett went mad after using a little too much acid and I'm guessing he wrote this while on a wicked trip.

Negro In Chief

Harry Reid says the word Negro and President Obama forgives him. Negro even appears on the 2010 census.
Many older African Americans identified themselves that way, and many still do
Some Blacks refer to themselves as "Nigga" or even "Nigger". Does that mean they should be on there? So, anyway, it seems that the word is, once again, okay to use. Does that mean we can call Obama the Negro President? Maybe if you're a Democrat. It does, however, make me wonder what would have happened had, say, Glenn Beck said what Sen. Reid said. "Light skinned with no Negro dialect". Could you imagine the monumental Hell storm that would erupt. I mean, Senators would be saying that he had to be driven out.

Carlos Gil Orozco wasn’t a great student, but one goal pushed him to hit the books: becoming a Marine.

"He was kind of a troublemaker, you know, he got bad grades and wouldn't do his homework," said his sister, Myriam Johanna Gil Orozco. "But he wanted to be a Marine. So he studied real hard, especially algebra. He'd stay up all night studying.

Cpl. Orozco's parents moved the family from Colombia to the U.S. when he was 8 years old, hoping to give their children a better education. They became frustrated when their son didn't do well in school and thought the Marines would be good for him.

"My dad was actually happy," Myriam said. "He'd rather have him be a Marine than out on the streets being in gangs or doing drugs."

Cpl. Carlos Orozco was killed while conducting combat operations in Ashraf, Iraq when the tank he was riding in encountered an IED. Also killed in the blast was Lance Cpl. Jon T. Hicks Jr. of Atco, New Jersey.

Cpl. Orozco leaves behind his sister, his parents, his wife and two sons.

U.S. to Suspend Gitmo Detainee Transfers to Yemen

The U.S. will not transfer any detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Yemen right now, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday. Well, it's step towards the right direction. Now, stop with this asinine closure of GITMO and keep these people where they need to be.

The Next Hotbed

TimesOnline is reporting that at least a dozen freed detainees from GITMO have made their way to al-Qaeda in Yemen.
The US Government issued figures in May showing that 74 of the 530 detainees in Guantánamo were suspected or known to have returned to terrorist activity since their release. They included the commander of the Taleban in Helmand province, Mullah Zakir, whom the British Chief of the Defence Staff, Sir Jock Stirrup, called “a key and seemingly effective tactical leader”. Among others who returned to terrorism was Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi, a Kuwaiti who killed six Iraqis in Mosul in 2008.

The number believed to have “returned to the fight” in the May 2009 estimate was double that of a US estimate from June 2008. US officials acknowledged that more detainees were known to have reoffended since, but the number has been classified.
GITMO is where they need to be. Plain and simple.

Tomorrow Is Today

So it's 2010. This, my friends, is officially the future. When people talked of the future, this is when they were talking about. So I'm wondering where all the cool stuff they promised us is. Where are the flying cars? Where is my robot maid? Where's my personal jetpack? Where is my communication device that let's me see and talk to people all over the world? Oh. Well, one out four is a start.
