Democrats Tie Republicans To High Gas Prices

Some Democrats from the House will have found themselves a Bush impersonator for a radio ad that tries to blame Republicans for the high price of gas in the country. Really? The national average today is over $4/gallon. In January 2007, when Democrats took control of Congress, it was around $2.20/gallon. If they want to blame someone other than everyone in the country and OPEC, maybe they should blame themselves because they've done diddly squat, about anything, since taking control. I wonder if the American public will buy into this? I would say that they're smart enough, but we all know that's not entirely true. People still believe Obama's Muslim and that Bush orchestrated the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Obama Supporters vs. Free Speech

Read this. At first it was thought that Google was shutting these anti-Obama sites down but it's come to light that it was Obama supporters flagging them as SPAM sites. Most of them have left Blogger since this has happened. Who knows. Some of these nuts may target me.

When A Hero Lets You Down

We've all had heroes in our lives. Whether they're family, an actor or what ever, we've all had someone that we've looked up to and wanted to be like. But what happens when that hero lets you down? When they fall from grace so to speak. We put them up on a pedestal and maybe modeled our lives off of them and then one day it all comes crashing down. How do we deal with that? That's what recently happened to me. Growing up I looked up to this person. A huge smile would appear on my face every time I saw this person. This person was bigger than life and represented everything I wanted to be and felt was good. But recently this person has been having some trouble and the way they've handled has caused me to take another look how I view them. And I don't like what I see. The way this person has conducted their self has been deplorable and would make that little boy who idolized this person all those years ago cry.

Empty Spaces Comic Strip

This is something I did just for the hell of it. I may do another one somewhere down the line, I don't know. Now you'll notice that I have Olbermann asking Obama real questions. You'll have to wrap your imaginations about that because that would never happen. But I had to make a choice. Did I want Olbermann asking puff questions or did I want Obama to give his typical buzz words. I went with the funnier one.

Guns Legal In D.C.

The 32-year-old ban on handguns in the nation's capital has been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Now, I've made it no secret that I'm not a fan of guns. I'm all for gun control, but as long as we have the Second Amendment people have the right to own one. Of course it all depends on how you interpret the what the amendment means. It says "A well regulated militia..." which we don't need anymore because we have the best military on the face of the planet, but the law is there. Maybe if the founding fathers had been a little more specific.

Now, that being said, I have to call Sen. Feinstein out on her criticism of the ruling.
I believe the people of this great country will be less safe because of it
Really? D.C. is one of the most crime riddled cities in the country. How was this ban making people more safe?

Wednesday Hero

This Weeks Hero Was Suggested by Mary Ann

Staff Sgt. Jude Voss
Staff Sgt. Jude Voss
1st Battalion, 3d Special Forces Group (Airborne)
U.S. Army

His courage illustrates a combat truth to these veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam: Soldiers aren’t thinking about glory or ideals in the midst of a battle. They fight for the men to the left and right of them.

And that's just what SSgt. Jude Voss did in September of 2006 when, without consideration to his safety, SSgt. Voss ran through enemy fire and the burning, smoking debris of a truck to rescue Sgt. 1st Class Greg Stube. Sgt. Stube was in a bad way. Uniform burning and legs busted, but because of the actions of SSgt. Voss he is alive today.

Because of his actions that day, SSgt. Voss was nominated for and received the Silver Star Medal for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. "I did what everybody out there would do" Voss said. "I was just the closest guy."

You can read SSgt. Voss's story here.

Who's Playing Politics?

Obama thinks that bin Laden is still free because of Republicans? Sen. Obama, who's been in charge of Congress for the past two years now? And what have you done to try and capture him? In fact, what have you all done period? I like this line from Richard Clarke
I'm a little disgusted by the attempts of some of my friends on the McCain campaign to use the same old, tired tactics ... to drive a wedge between Americans for partisan advantage and to frankly frighten Americans
That's not what the Obama camp has done themselves? These people need to get off their high horses and stop pretending that their farts don't stink. Candidate of change or politics as usual?

Government Controlled Oil?

Not only do some in Congress want this country to work more like Europe, now some also want us to work more like Venezuela.
We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.
Wow. And as we all know, the government can do a better job than us at everything. All we need to do is sit back and let them take care of us.

Firefox 3

In case you didn't know, Firefox 3 has been released. A couple of warnings. 1). Some of your add-ons might not work with it. There may not be an update for them yet. About half of mine don't work. Hopefully the developers will get that rectified. 2). If you install FF3, don't like it, and try to go back to your previous version, it might not work. That's what I did. I saw that my add-ons weren't working so I tried to go back to v.2.0.0.14 and it kept crashing so I had to stick with v.3.

Something's Missing

Reading this piece about GE's stock plummeting and this Patrick Sanders is telling us a bunch of gobbledygook about why it's going down, but I couldn't help but notice that he left one very important reason out. People are dropping this stock like a bad habit because of GE's dealings with Iran. Not sure why he left that part out. And I'm sure that some have also dropped it because GE owns NBC and NBC has become the most hateful and biased "news" organization in the country. But I think it's mostly the dealings with Iran.

Passing A Stone

I woke up on Tuesday morning to the most intense pain I'd ever felt in my life. It felt like my lower back was on fire. I thought it was just a muscle or something. A few hours later the pain went away and I was fine. Then today, Friday, I again woke to that same pain. Only this time it lasted longer and there was a bit of blood in my urine. I just got back from the emergency room where they told me that I was trying to pass a kidney stone. If you've never passed one, count your lucky stars. I don't cry very often, but that pain had me in tears today. Hopefully this damn thing will pass in the next couple of days so I can be done with it.

Your time with us was far too short
Dealing with your loss will be hard,
When I think about what this world has lost
I want to just shut out the world and cry
But I will not do that.
Because you gave your life for something much greater than you or I
So, I will remember you as the Hero that you are
And never let what you did in your life cut short be forgotten
And that is the best way I know to honor you

America Has No Friends

We need to bolster our image around the world so we can once again get other countries to like us, because if not they may not help us when we need them. So, because they hate us or our leader or our policies they could refuse to help us if we were to call on their aid? And we're the one's with the problem?

You Want The Toilets Where?

Two things. 1) Talk about insensitive and horrible. Putting porta potties on top of a memorial for fallen officers? And 2) Remember this rally? The media was loving it. 70,000+ people came out to hear Barack Obama speak. No, they didn't. Those people where there for a free concert by a local band called The Decemberists. Obama was just a guest. But there wasn't much mention of that fact in most of the reports. I wonder why?

Election 2008

The candidates have been chosen. John McCain(R) vs. Barack Obama(D). And this election has come down to one question. Who do you want in the White House? A man who, while a little boring and dull, has actual experience and an understanding of the issues or a man who, while charismatic and energetic, hasn't even served a full term in the Senate and doesn't fully understand the issues. A man, McCain, who believes that Americans should work hard and keep what they earn, or a man, Obama, who is a populist, borderline Socialist, who believes the government knows what's best and can do a better job than you.

The role of the president of the United States in the world we live in today is far to important to fob off on someone who doesn't know what they're doing. If Bush had no idea with two terms as governor of the second largest state in the country, what makes people think Obama does? I don't support either one of these guys, but between the two I would vote for McCain long before Obama. Anyone who doesn't think Iran is that big of a problem should not be in office.

For The Love Of God, It's A T-Shirt

A British man was threated with arrest at Heathrow airport because he was wearing a shirt with a cartoon character that had a gun.

Maybe I should change the "America Is Dying" posts to "Common Sense Is Dying". What did they think, that he was giving people a warning that he was packing heat or something?

The Big Storms Of '08

This weekend saw some powerful storms rip through parts of Oklahoma. No tornadoes, thankfully, but some very damaging straight line winds. Speeds between 60-80 mph in some areas. Hail the size of your fist. Flooding. And I learned something from this. Be careful what you wish for. I heard on the news that some areas were getting 60 mph winds for up to three minutes non-stop. "I would like to experience that one time". And it happened. The wind hit and I lost half my tree in my front yard. One whole side of it was ripped off. If you'll remember back to December and the massive ice storm we had, it's the same Bradford Pear tree that the ice got a hold of and nearly took down. But it came back. But not this time. Here's what it looked like before, just as Spring was setting in and it started to blossom. I, sadly, don't have a picture of it in it's full glory. And here's what it looks like today. It's going to have to come down now. It just makes me sick. I loved this tree. Yeah, it was too big. And it was hard to mow around, but I loved it still. I just happened to be looking out my front door when it happened. I heard a pop, you'd think something like that would be much louder, and saw it go down. Never seen anything like it. But it could have been much worse. Some trees were actually uprooted. Big trees.
