Can't Quite Put My Finger On It

Why does Pink Floyd's song Mother remind me of Barack Obama?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry
Mama's gonna make all of your nightmares come true
Mama's gonna put all of her fears into you
Mama's gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
Mama's gonna keep baby cozy and warm

I can't quite put my finger on it.

This Pink Floyd verse, mourning the death of america... it's all a bit 'over the top', don't you think...
What do you actually expect your new president to do that is so bad?

... and if you haven't noticed, his predecessor kind of beat him to it all.

John K says it's going to result fascists and gas chambers (yes, John, you keep sniffing those permanent marker pens) what does someone a little more 'stable' think is actually going to happen - just taking a minute first to reflect on the bush government policy of handing-out truckloads of money to big business.

All the big fears: terrorist attacks on US soil, the economy failing, business failing - you already have this under bush...

How can obama 'drop the ball' any worse? In fact, how can his term(s) as president not be hugely successful if that is the standard you are all used to?

... and how can anyone be so convinced of impending doom when compared to the monumental failure that is the present administration?
(that's the bit I find funny - shit has gone wrong in every way imaginable, but here you all are, behaving like the sky is falling cos obama is president... just when things were going so well!)

It reminds you of Obamessiah because it's slightly creepy?

Yes, things are bad but I, along with many other Americans, that they will get progressively, no pun intended, worse under Obama when he starts to implement the things he wants such as universal health care and discriminatory policies towards the successful. Or the evil rich if you like. Because it won't be them who will have to pay, it'll be people like me who're barely getting by as it is. You don't actually think "Big Business" will actually be paying their jacked up taxes do you? No, we will when they hike the prices of their goods to pay for them. Plus Obama's judgment concerns me. Associating with people such as Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright. A terrorist and a racist.

In Pink Floyd's album The Wall, Mother is an overbearing, overprotective figure. "Don't worry, Mother's here to take care of you. Everything will be fine if you stay with me" Reminds me of Obama's big government attitude.
