H1N1 Vaccine

Will you or your children be taking the H1N1 vaccine when it become available? I doubt I will. I haven't had a flu shot in years and I've only had the flu, maybe, twice in my life. I know the media and the government have tried to scare the crap out of us, and it's work to some extent on me, but I just don't feel all that threatened by it. Plus, you know there's going to be a shortage so I'll just save mine for someone who might need it. Also, do we really know what all the side effects may be? They tell us it's safe, but you'll have to forgive me if I have questions.

You know according to Bill Maher you’re an idiot if you get the swine flu shot. Given his uninformed views about vaccines and science-based medicine in general, that’s reason enough to get it.

Of course vaccines are the most powerful public health tool for controlling preventable diseases. I plan to follow the recommendations of the vast majority of doctors and researchers. So yes, my children will be vaccinated and when they offer it to me so will I.

I hope you change your mind, Chris. Even if you’re not worried about getting the flu yourself you could help prevent spreading it to others who can’t get the shot (like infants younger than 6 months).

Bill Maher's an idiot. If people want to get the shot, awesome. I don't know. My mom's trying to talk me into getting it.

The question is why wouldn't you get it? The clinical trials have shown it's safe and it could potentially save your life or someone else's. The more people who get it the better because it increases the herd immunity.

Don't take my word for it. Do your own research. Just don't make assumptions without all the facts. That's all I'm saying.
