Also, Zackary Quinto, who will play Mr. Spock, has stated that his Spock will be more emotional. Now when I first read that I was kind of upset. Mr. Spock doesn't show emotion. Never really did, except on a few occasion later in his life, but then I read the part underneath the video.
Interesting highlight is that Quinto thinks his early Spock will be ‘more charged with the internal struggle’ of being half human and half VulcanWhich actually makes perfect sense and may be a good dramatic element for the film to pursue.

A friend has confirmed for me that Tom Cruise is going to be the young Kirk.

How can Tom Cruise play young Kirk when he's older than Shater was when he originally played Kirk? James Kirk is either still in Starfleet or just taking command of Enterprise in this movie, which would put him in his mid-late 20's to early 30's. Tom Cruise is 45 years old.
I think your "friend" has been storying to you.
Oops, that should read James Kirk is either still in Starfleet Academy...
Hey Chris, droppin in to say what's up.
Nothing much. Keeping myself busy, or at least trying to.
Oh, and the 360's better.
Cruise may play Cpt. Pike not Kirk.
