"It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower,..."Personally, I like that we're a dominate military superpower and I hope we remain one. I wonder which side our president falls on on this issue.

Here’s the part of the quote not shown:
“…and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them," Obama said. "And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure."
By citing only part of the President’s quote I think you missed the broader point of his statement, Chris. Being a military superpower comes at a heavy price for our soldiers. Since you say you like being a military superpower but didn’t seem to think the President’s concerns about the price in “blood and treasure” was important, it makes me wonder which side you fall on this issue.
(Actually, I know you care for soldiers very much. I just wanted you to see how it feels when the tables are turned and something you never intended to say is taken way out of context.)
