It's Official

Watching Hannity & Colmes this evening and Rudy Giuliani made it semi-official. He will seek the Republican nomination for president. As everyone here knows, he's got my vote. Is he pro-abortion? Yes. Does he support gay marriage? Yes. Did he cheat on his wife? Yes. Is he a tough son-of-a-bitch when it comes to doing what it necessary to fight terrorism? Yes. And that's the most important issue facing this country today. You can outlaw abortion and same-sex marriage, but it means jack if a major U.S. city is hit by another terror attack. It's become a cliché, but Run, Rudy...Run.

I agree with you on this one. Besides, the President's main job is foreign affairs and I trust him with that job...

So what about McCain? I guess it may not matter at this point because it'll come down to one person against Hil-bama.

I'am sorry but as a lifelong conservative, not a neo-con; I cannot in good conscience vote for any Republican who will not oppse Gay marriage or is Pro murder of unborn children. And; I feel that the Conservative base feels the same way.
Get prepared for a Dem win whomever it is on that side. If the conservative base stays home like they did last mid-term for congress; then that is what will happen.

Exactly. A Conservative will not win this election. You could get Ronald Reagan's doppelganger in the race and he wouldn't win. Giuliani is the only Republican who stands a chance against either Hillary or Obama. McCain, maybe, but Rudy has a better shot. His social views may not match mine, but like I said, fighting the war on terror is the most important issue. And I feel that Giuliani is the best one to do that.

Indian Chris, you make a very valid point in your comment here and I am seriously reconsidering Giuliani. I watched the interview on Hannity & Comes too. I like Giuliani and I know he would be strong on national defense.

I posted an article a couple of days ago about the fact that more and more doctors are refusing to do abortions, so whether the law is changed or not, abortions are going to be harder to get. More nurses are refusing to work in abortion clinics. It's good news, because if this is being done because of conscience, minds are harder to change than a law. A law forbidding abortions can always be changed again!

I don't like the fact that he cheated on his wife, but to me that's between him and his wife and none of my business. Have I led a perfect life? Have I ever made a mistake? How many of us can answer the first question with a "yes" and the second with a "no"? He did a great job in New York of keeping the crime rate down and turning the economy around, so his record in office is exemplary. But your point is well taken; if we run a hardcore conservative the Democrats will win!

I disagree. A True conservative on all issues can win. Look at Ronald Reagan.

John, this country has been lead by Conservatives, some real some not, for over a decade now. Sadly, people want a change. If I thought a true Conservative could win, I'd back him/her. But Rudy's the only Republican, in my view, that can win.

Take a look at Sam Brownback or Tom Tancredo and tell me what about them makes it so they could not win.

They're Conservatives. That's what will prevent them from winning. This country is moving to the left again. It doesn't matter what their views or ideas are, that Conservative title will hinder them.

So as a conservative, you wish to fore go the battle and just hand it to the liberals?

In spite of the fact that Giuliani,
supports partial birth abortion
Abortion on demand
Roe v. Wade
Taxpayer funded abortion
Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Gay Domestic Partnership/Civil Unions
Openly Gay Military
Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
Special Path to Citizenship for Illegal Aliens
Sanctuary Cities/ Ignoring Immigration Law
Confiscating Guns
'Assault' Weapons Ban
Frivolous Lawsuits Against Gun Makers
Gun Registration/Licenses

He opposes,
Federal Marriage Amendment
Defense of Marriage Act
Tough Penalties for Employers of Illegal Aliens
Protecting 2nd Amendment

In other words... his positions are identical to Hitlery Clinton in every single way!

If they succeed in everything on that list, why would...fighting the war on terror be the most important issue? We will have lost the reasons we are fighting for.

You have conservative commentors who have already decided to compromise their values and everything they stand for, to support someone identical to one they claim to oppose. That's not rational.

I consider supporting Giuliani as antithetical to everything our military is trying to accomplish.

keep that in mind come Wednesday.

Lobo, I'm not a staunch, rock solid Conservative myself. My views are spread out. For me, and me alone, fighting terrorism is more important than abortion or gay marriage. So I'm not compromising my values. Do I want a 100% pure Conservative in office? Honestly, I'd have to say no because I'd be a hypocrite if I did. I ramble on and on about how I wish the windbags in Washington could actually work together and people who's view are set in stone tend not to be able to do that. I love my Republican brethren, I love Conservatives but we've seen that the unwillingness to bend even a little gets nothing done.

The main thing you mentioned that I don't like are his views on illegals. And come the election that might cause me to change my view of him. I can't really say for sure right now. Because fighting the war would mean nothing if you're letting them into the country. But I can't ask that he change his mind because he'd just be another windsock politician if he did.

That can be corrected. Usually, age and wisdom will do it. =O)

At least you are honest about your position. I don't necessarily agree with it but I can respect it.

The war on terror IS important but not to the exclusion of what can just as easily bring down this country.

We are rotting from the inside out.
We have two enemies attacking this country and the military is only able to deal with the one.

If we don't do our part to arrest that rot...we are only working against the military.

I'm not about to support someone that would only add to that rot.

You, like many Americans, are young and know only the post 9-11 Giuliani.

Do some research on him. Just as importantly, you have a couple resident liberals. Pay attention to what they are saying and what they are NOT saying.

Personally, I will oppose him more than I have opposed anyone.
