New Border Fence

The U.S. Senate, on Friday, passed and sent a bill to President Bush that authorized 700 miles of new fencing to be erected along the U.S./Mexico border.
FoxNews.com
Reuters

A few of things.
1) Will Bush sign it or will he continue to pander to Latinos?
2) If he does sign it, will it actually ever get put up?
3) Why is it only 700 miles?
4) Why do Congressional Democrats bitch about it when they've yet to put forth their plan to stop illegal immigration?
5) Anyone else not care what Mexico thinks about this?

Women Are Shopaholics

If this post comes off a sexist, I don't apologize for it. I spent the morning doing some Christmas shopping with some people today. Of the female persuasion. Three hours into it and I'm shot. Please, tell me how you all do it. I'm walking through Kohl's, one of maybe three men in the store, pushing the silliest basked on Earth, feeling like a tool, wishing it would hurry and end. If you've never heard of Kohl's, it's a store that caters more to women then men. Sure, they have a men's section, but no men. Guys, back me up on this. Waiting in front of the changing room is no fun. Just four words to sum up this day. I Hate The Mall. I like going Christmas shopping, but at Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Never the mall. Although, I did end up with a rather good Pink Floyd CD, so maybe it wasn't all bad. I need sleep.

Wednesday Hero

This Weeks Hero Was Suggested By Toni At Bear Creek Ledger

SSG. Paul Brondhaver
If you tell Army Staff Sgt. Paul Brondhaver he's a hero, he'll just laugh and shake his head. He's heard it before, but he doesn't think he's any more of a hero than the millions of men and women who served before him or alongside him.

Brondhaver, an Ohio National Guardsman, was severely wounded in a rocket-propelled-grenade and small-arms ambush in July 2004 in Samarra, Iraq, where his Guard unit was serving with the 1st Infantry Division. More than 300 pieces of shrapnel tore through his body, and a rocket-propelled-grenade that killed Pfc. Sam Bowen continued its mindless path and struck Brondhaver, causing his own weapon to explode and further ravage his body.

On hand for yesterday's Freedom Walk here commemorating the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States and honoring the nation's past and present servicemembers, Brondhaver made no effort to hide his tears as he showed the bracelet he wears in Bowen's honor.

"If we can stay together as a bunch of good guys in America, it's going to be easier for us to keep our resolve and remind each other of the importance of honoring those (fallen troops) so that their lives weren't given in vain," he said.

With a new lease on life as he steadily recovers from injuries that brought him to the precipice of death, the 20-year Guardsman said he has a responsibility to speak for those who now can't speak for themselves. During his recovery, he has spoken in several states to spread his message.

Walking with a cane, Brondhaver helped lead several hundred Freedom Walk participants on the mile-and-a-half trek from the future site of the Colorado Freedom Memorial to the Aurora Municipal Center. At his side was Fairfax County (Va.) Fire Department Battalion Chief John Everett, who was one of the first responders to the attack on the Pentagon.

"All of our hearts were touched and damaged" by 9/11 and with the losses incurred in its aftermath, Brondhaver said. "We need to build our hearts back up to be full and strong," he said. "And events like this can do that. Events like this hopefully can inspire and motivate others to tell their neighbors how important it is to stay strong. It will be a stronger America in the end."

Brondhaver said he intends to spend the rest of his life spreading his message of "faith, family and friends," his belief in America and his appreciation for freedom one event at a time.

Though he has suffered a personal tragedy with his injuries, Brondhaver said, he hopes to show people that the effect any tragedy has depends on how they react to it.

"In the end, my cup is half full," he said. "I have nothing negative to say. Life is positive."
Twice after he suffered his injuries, Brondhaver's heart stopped beating.

"I flatlined in Balad, Iraq, in surgery, and they revived me," he said. "I had lost a lot of blood. Then I'm 30,000 feet in the air on the way to Landstuhl, Germany, to a medical facility there, and I flatlined again and they revived me. Having near-death experiences has really brought home the important things in life. If you have faith, family and friends, you have a strong America. That's my message."

Needing and receiving his parents' permission, Brondhaver joined the Ohio Guard at 17 because, he said, he wanted to help people. Serving in the National Guard has taught him how to live his life to help others, Brondhaver said. He's been activated for prison riots, floods, tornadoes, snow emergencies and other missions that have allowed him to help his fellow citizens. He wears 21 medals, including the Bronze Star for valor, the Purple Heart, and Army Commendation medals. But he prizes his Humanitarian Service Medal the most, he said.

"They're all important; they're all accepted with honor," he said. "But a soldier doesn't go to war saying, "Man, I hope I get the Purple Heart." But it's OK to say, "It would be nice if I can get the Humanitarian Medal, because that means I can help others."

Helping others is a habit for Brondhaver. When he deployed to Iraq, he noticed that many children had nothing on their feet. This led to "Socks for Paul," a joint effort with his wife, Lisa — they were high school sweethearts — that collected more than 6,000 pairs of shoes and socks for Iraqi children.

"We put them in a Humvee and went from school to school," he said, his eyes dancing as if he were Santa Claus describing his favorite Christmas. "We delivered shoes and socks to those children, along with school supplies and Spaghetti-O's and Girl Scout cookies."

Even as he faces various surgeries for the rest of his life, Brondhaver said that if he were 17 again and knew what lay ahead for him, he still would have signed on the dotted line. "I'd do it again in a heartbeat," he said. "I wouldn't even have to think about it. I never look back."

He pointed to the American flag on the right shoulder of his uniform and said people wonder why the field of stars is on the right side of the emblem. "The blue part always goes forward. America always goes forward. We don't retreat. We don't look back. We stay steady. We stay strong."

When All Else Fails, Win With Spin

Did anyone else see the Clinton interview on Fox News last night? I only got to see part of it but it was the part everyone's talking about. Bubba's little bitchy meltdown. Same old Clinton's. It's the evil Right-wing. First we made up Monica Lewinski and now we're to blame for pointing out that he didn't have the stones to kill bin Laden. You know, I don't see Bush blaming the Left-wing for not dealing with bin Laden before 9/11. I did like how he said that he's never criticized Bush and then he tried to make it seem that he, Bush, had more time to deal with bin Laden than he himself did. Now, I know I failed high school math and had to take summer school to graduate, but even I can see that four years, when bin Laden declared war on America, is longer than eight months. He then made it seem that maybe the U.S. should violate Pakistan's sovereignty by marching in and taking bin Laden out thereby putting the death nail in one of the very few quasi-allies we have in the Middle East. That being said, I will give him some credit. He did except responsibility for not doing enough. Must be the first time he's ever taken responsibility for his actions, or lack of actions as the case my be.

In Case You Missed It

A British man had a visit from the police because he missed on appointment with the vet. Boy, PeTA's becoming a little too powerful.

An Iowa man was busted while carrying his pot plant down the street. Police spotted him when he walked by their station. Wow.

Russian men are ordered to go home during the day and make love.
Have you seen some of these Russian women? I think I'd stay at work.

Jackie Chan's new character is too evil for Chinese audiances. The government makes him tone it down. Lone live Communism.

Some Austrian burglers got the shock of their lives. Just read it.

An Oregon woman was cited for driving her lawnmower without insurance.
Oh yeah, she had a wreck and broke her leg as well but the insurance thing is the funny part.

And the winner of this weeks Darwin Award is this guy. He's drunk. He threatens a bunch of bikers. He gets out of his car with a pool cue only to have his own car run him over. Congratulations, Richard Brooks.

The Change Is Here

I was out mowing, for what will hopefully be the last time this year, and saw that the first leaf of the season had changed color. And on the first day of Fall. I love Autum. The leaves change, the temperatures start to fall and we're only three months away from that evil C word. Christmas. Sure, we here in the mid-South have to put up with a second severe storm season, and we've had our share over the past two days, but I can live with it. Pretty soon I'll need to drag my pants out of the closet and my cap out of the dresser. Then the tree and decorations come out of the shed. As the song states, it's the most wonderful time of the year.

Wal-Mart will be selling generic prescription drugs in a Florida store for only $4 for a 30-day supply. I say cheers for Wal-Mart. That big evil corporation is actually doing something good. It's only a test program, but hopefully it'll be implemented all across the country soon.

Wise Sage Of The Day

Today's wise sage comes from Yeah, Right, Whatever.

Who is more irrational? A man who believes in a God he doesn't see, or a man who's offended by a God he doesn't believe in? - Brad Stine

Maybe someone should send that along to the ACLU.

A Greek bank robbing Ninja was finally caught by authorities. How often in life do you get to say that?

A Vons employee in San Diego was arrested for putting needles in doughnuts.

A Missouri man find a body buried in the house he'd just bought. Jimmy?!?!?!?

A South Carolina boy handcuffs himself to his stuff reindeer. In an unrelated story, Santa Claus was seen running through the streets yelling "Prancer, Prancer" over and over.

Tenn. Gov. Perdue announces plan to eliminate state income tax for citizens 65 and over.

A British man was killed while flying his kite. This has Monty Python written all over it.

A British man, who forgot where he parked his car, finds it seven months later. Damn, that's one HUGE Wal-Mart parking lot.

It's all about the headline.

Muslims Pissed Off, Again

Muslims are demanding that Pope Benedict XVI apologize for his remarks about the Islamic practice of Jihad. Why? He's right. It is unreasonable. Someone draws a picture of Muhammad and you declare war on them. Sounds like a medieval practice to me. Let me guess, to prove the Pope wrong they're going to issue a fatwa and declare jihad against him and the Vatican.
Story

UPDATE
To prove the Pope wrong, Muslims in the West Bank firebombed five Christian churches. You know, like civilized people would.

This is so wrong Too many people depend on the layaway. Not everyone can afford to just go in and buy what they need cash in hand. With the layaway you could put down and pay what you could afford when you could afford it. I was going to put a LCD HDTV in the layaway after Christmas. Guess that's out.

United 93

United 93

Before I say anything else about this movie, I have to say this. It's not for everyone. Very intense and graphic. It chronicles everything from the the four terrorists leaving their hotel rooms to the moment of impact. It also shows the attacks on the WTC and Pentagon. I honestly can't rate this movie. How can I? How can I say it's so bad it only gets 1 star or amazing film that gets 5 stars. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. Throughout the entire thing I'm okay. Angry at what's happening, but that's to be expected. But no tears. However, sitting there watching, you just want to scream and let them know what's about to happen. It wasn't until the end that it really hits. It shows, from the cockpit, the plane going down. The the screen went black and the wind was literally knocked out of me. I actually lost my breath for a few seconds and that's when the tears hit. That was 10 minutes ago and I'm still welling up thinking about it. A movie you should really see. I was wanting to see "World Trade Center", but I don't know if I could take it now.

Hello, OCD

Below is a picture of my sock drawer.
*Adnan Hajj had to do some work on the photo*

Every sock I own is a white Hanes with the gray on the toes and heel all rolled the exact same way. I'd never thought about it before, but that seems a little strange. "Monk" strange. My underwear drawer's the same. All white FTL folded in nice order. I also don't touch doorknobs, other than my own, I have to have things arranged in order. Either largest to smallest or two of the same object on either side of another. If I wear a cap, it HAS to be centered on my head. I don't think about doing it, I just do it. I'm..on..a..morning..schedule. Wake up at this time, eat breakfast at this time, bathroom at this time. But here's the kicker. I'm one of the sloppiest people on the planet. I have dirty clothes laying on my bedroom floor. A dishwasher full of dishes. I have two glasses on my computer desk that have been there for a week. Week old dirty clothes. Any takers? Contact me and you can clean everything while I complain that it's not being cleaned the "right way".
Yet another reason to hate Mexico. But the Mexican government may not get what they want. A dual-illegality clause in the extradition treaty sighned between the U.S. and Mexico.

What The Hell?

I'm out for a morning walk. I'm minding my own business, not bothering anyone, when a woman comes up to me and asks me if I'm on medication. I look at her and tell her, "no".

"You know what they're doing don't you?"
"No."
"They're putting chemicals in beef."

She then proceeds to ramble on about chemically processed meat. I'm nodding my head tuning her out hoping she would just shut up and let me be on my way. I swear to God, I thought she was going to whip out a Bible and start preaching to me about how chemicals are the tool of the Devil. Thank goodness her cat came up and wanted in. What is wrong with people? If someone is walking down the street, just wave. Maybe say Hello. Don't start up a conversation unless they look like they want to talk. And please remember to take you medication before going out of the house.

Spc. Tracy L. Laramore
Spc. Tracy L. Laramore
30 years old from Okaloosa, Florida
1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment

March 17, 2004

Spc. Tracy L. Laramore loved overseas military duty and after one two-year stint was up, he re-enlisted and even extended his time by five months so that he could continue service in Iraq. The 30-year-old from Okaloosa, Fla., died March 17, 2004 in Baji, Iraq, when the vehicle he was in overturned into a river. He was most recently based in Schweinfurt, Germany. "Everywhere he went, he had friends," his mother, Faye West, said. "He told me to keep in touch with all of them while he was in Iraq." At age 24, Laramore was the oldest enlistee at Fort Benning, Ga., but outperformed younger recruits to the amazement of other soldiers, his mother said.

I Gradiated The 6th Grade

The Bushaphobes are at it again. Natalie Maines, lead singer of The Dixie Chicks, has called President Bush a dumb fuck in their documentary "Shut Up And Sing" and actor Sean Penn has called him a, quote, Beelzebub...and a dumb one. What? That's got to be the dumbest one he's been called. Anyway, so I went looking. We all know that George W. Bush recieved a B.A. from Yale and an MBA from Harvard. Ms. Maines, after graduating from High School as a Junior, dropped out of the Berklee School of Music in Boston and Mr. Penn never went to college. Neither did I for that fact. But I find it rather interesting that a lot of the people who call Bush a moron or ignorant or stupid either never graduated from high school, dropped out of college or never went. I had a site that talked about this but stupid me deleted the link last week thinking I wouldn't need it.

Remembering The Victims

Alona Abraham
A 30-year-old resident of the Israeli port town of Ashdot, Alona Abraham was 11 days into her first vacation in the United States on Sept. 11. She was on United Flight 175, which crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center.

Her cousin, Danny Raymond of Van Nuys, Calif., had been sending letters to his Israeli relatives for years, extolling the United States as exciting -- and peaceful.

An office worker, Abraham finally decided to visit, and in the process was hoping to meet a few nice Jewish boys who might make for a good life partner, Raymond said.

"Everything was really exciting to her, to be in a country she had only seen in newspapers and on TV," Raymond said. "She couldn't believe how different everything looked -- and that it was so peaceful."

Abraham's family were Mumbai (Bombay) Jews who emigrated to Israel in the 1950s. Raymond said Abraham was "all Indian" in appearance -- tall, with stunning black eyes and brown hair, a woman who found joy in being with friends and family -- "just the warmth, the heart, the goodness of being with someone."

The Path To 9/11, Pt. 1

If you watched it then I don't need to go into details. If you didn't, too bad. First, I have to say it was good. Scary as hell, but good. Secondly, the Clinton administration came off pretty good. Sure, there was some criticism, but let's face it, they weren't spotless. The number of times they got lucky and were able to stop this attack was very much up front. Because that's what it comes down to. Luck. We didn't get so lucky five years ago. Set aside the politics and take the movie for what it is. The planning of the attack. On that, it was worth watching.

Censorship: Alive And Well

Just like Republicans did in 2003 with CBS's "The Reagans", Democrats are pissing and moaning, demanding that ABC pull "The Path To 9/11". But so far, unlike CBS, ABC hasn't canceled the docudrama or shipped it somewhere else. They've only cowed down and censored it. I love seeing the tables turned on Democrats. But what's scary is that Sens. Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid are threatening to pull ABC's broadcast license. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the First Amendment protect this type of stuff from government interference? There's something wrong when elected officials try to blackmail a network to not show something they don't agree with. Could you imagine what would happen if Norm Coleman or Trent Lott tried to stop IFC from showing "Fahrenheit 9/11". All hell would break loose.

On September 8, 1966 a little television show premiered on NBC. It only lasted three years but would leave an indelible mark on society for the next 40 years. That show was "Star Trek". Ten movies, plus an eleventh in the works, 5 series, cartoons, comics, books, toys, games. And not to mention the granddaddy of geektatude, the conventions, "Star Trek" has managed to work its way into just about every aspect of every culture on the planet. Poor Bubba

Clinton's former lackeys are already going after ABC. I'm not going to go into a overdrawn post about this, but I do find one thing interesting. Where were these same people when Moore and his ilk were making it seem that Bush didn't care we were attacked? When he(Moore) tried to make it seem that W was busy playing golf while we were being attacked. Where were their charges of "false and defamatory"? In fact, where are they when some are trying to make it seem that not only did Bush know the attack was going to happen, but that his administration planned and carried it out? Clinton was too busy diddling some fat chick with his cigar to do what had to be done for this country. If the soft-brain Liberals can't accept that, tough shit.

I don't know if ABC will cave into their demands censor themselves. I hope not. But this is Clinton. The Lord & Savior of the Left. He has a way of getting what he wants.

Spc. Nicholas R. Idalski
23 years old from Crown Point, Indiana
1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division
United States Army
June 21, 2005

Spc. Nick Idalski, 23, was killed Tuesday, June 21, 2005 when his unit was attacked by small-arms fire west of Baghdad near the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi.

Idalski, who graduated from Crown Point High School in 2001, enlisted in 2003 after working in construction and becoming certified as an emergency medical technician.

A member of the Army's 2nd Infantry Division, Idalski had been stationed in Ramadi since August of 2004 and was due to return home in July of 2005, said his stepfather, Rick Greenberg. His unit had previously been stationed in South Korea.

Idalski's mother, Kim Greenberg, remembers vividly watching her son at his infantry training graduation in September 2003 in Fort Benning, Ga.

"He looked phenomenal," Greenberg said. "He looked sharp. He stood tall and proud. He was all Army."

Idalski planned to make a career out of the Army, his family said.

Steve Idalski said his brother enlisted because he wanted to make a difference and make his family proud.

"He was a leader," he said. "He wanted to be out there and prove a point that he could do anything that was thrown at him."

Weak As Water

Once again, Europe shows that when it comes to facing a challenge head on they turn tail and run. They showed it with Germany in the 30's, with Hezbollah and now with Iran. Europe is just as useless as the United Nations. Is it any wonder the U.S. become the most powerful country in less than 200 years?

Thank You

This post is dedicated to the men and woman who have served and are serving in the United States military. I've never been in the armed forces, so I don't even pretend to know everything you go through or the sacrifices you have made or are making. But my father was in the Army during the Korean War so I have tremendous respect for you and what you do for us. I just wanted to let you know that you have people back home who love, support and respect you and who wish you a safe and speedy return. You sacrifice everything in your lives for people you don't even know. You may not call yourselves heroes, but that's what you are.
Thank You
The first, or second as the case may be, of every month, I post this message. It would be nice to see people honor and thank the men and woman who keep us safe. So if you would like to take part in this, just save the image above to your server and re-post this post. If you're not able to upload images, Image Shack or Tinypic are two great free host sites. What's great about this is that anyone can participate. There's no political leanings here. Show your support for the men and woman who defend our freedoms.

Hurricane Season Downgraded

Hurricane season has been downgraded

I thought Bush's global warming plan was going to make this hurricane season just as bad or worse than last years. At least that's what the "experts" were saying. 20 years scientists were saying that the planet was cooling. I wonder what they'll be saying 20 years from now.

Wednesday Hero Blogroll

I may be a Right-wing hack, but Wednesday Hero is a non-partisan post I do every Wednesday that honors the brave men and women in the United States military, their families and others that have given to our troops. And while I'm not taking "official" new members, I am still accepting new blogs. So, if you would like to post the tribute on your site you can do so by visiting this page every Wednesday. I'll have the post up for you do copy to your blog. All I ask is that you leave the link back to here so that others who may want to do the same can. And if you do post it, let me know so that I can add your blog to the list below. Also, I have the worst memory on planet Earth so if I forget to get the new post up by Wednesday afternoon let me know.

Have a question? Need to let me know something? Want to suggest someone to be profiled? You can contact me here.
