The earth belongs to the white man. There is no future outside of his world.
Has anyone seen this HBO movie? This was one of the hardest movies I'd ever seen. Watching the systematic destruction of a people over the span of 20 years was horrible. Based on the book by Dee Brown which tells the stories of several tribes, the movie centers around the Sioux. How their culture and life was taken way. Hunters put on reservations and forced to become farmers on land that couldn't grow anything. Some of the best chapters in the movie were about Chief Sitting Bull. The government tried everything they could to break him and never did. And because of that he's become the symbol of Indian resistance. But it was the slaughter at Wounded Knee creek that broke me. Watching men, women and children gunned down. Babies freezing to death in their dead mothers arms. It was the event that really signaled the end. I recommend everyone watch this movie and read this book.
And, may I add, that Adam Beach is one of the best actors today. This young man, I think, is going to really break out. And soon.
TrekMovie is reporting that Mike Vogel is in the running, and may be the front runner, to play the most famous Captain on television. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. He's the perfect age for the role. 28. That's in the age range they want Kirk to be. Maybe. I don't know.
And here's something quite interesting.
IESB are reporting that the villain is to be a Romulan and that the plot involves Romulans going back in time to destroy Earth. TrekMovie.com has confirmed that elements of the original AICN rumor report are true (such as the inclusions of the Romulans and time-travel), however a source tells us that much of the original AICN story is still pure speculation.
TrekMovie.com has picked up on a new plot element. We have previously reported that even though the film is not (as originally rumored) an ‘Academy Movie,’ it still will involve at least some scenes at the famed Starfleet Academy. TrekMovie.com can now confirm that one of those scenes will show James T. Kirk’s solution to the famous Kobayahsi Maru ‘no win scenario’ simulation (first described in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan).

Hillary Clinton has proposed a plan that would have the federal government give every child born in the U.S. a $5,000 bond for the future.she we would pay for this? She wants us to pay for peoples health care and their future. When will one of the Republican candidates stand up and confront her about this? It's scary how we're just sitting back and saying nothing. Also, I wonder how many more unwanted babies will be born because of this? You can tell parents that they want be getting the money, but it's the stupid one's who will be having the babies for the cash and something tells me they're not going to understand.
The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States.Let's see, $5,000 x 4,000,000 = $20,000,000,000/yr. Gee, I wonder how

Cpl. Jeremy David Allbaugh lived a short life. But, he was immortalized recently in acrylics by a Lance Cpl. Jamieson who painted a mural in his honor.
"I feel sad because it is for him, but it makes me happy because I can still do something for him," said Lance Cpl. Jamieson. "I thought about it during the ceremony in the chapel. I looked up at the stained glass windows and I thought 'I should do something like that'".
Along with help from family, a fellow Marine and a Morale, Wefare and Recreation manager, Jamieson had the paint and tools needed.
"I would paint eight or nine hours in the gym and time would fly by," Jamieson said.
Cpl. Jeremy David Allbaugh, 21 years old from Luther, Oklahoma, was killed by a roadside bomb on July 5, 2007 while conducting combat operations in Qaim, Iraq.
"He believed very strongly in what our country's doing," said his mother, Jenifer Allbaugh. "They were doing good things over there, and we don't see that in the news or media. There's a lot of progress being made. I wish more people would talk to our boys who are in it and not our politicians because they see it firsthand".

Okay, I watched A-Jad's speech at the U.N. Now, could someone please tell me what the hell he was talking about? He's going on about Iran being a peace loving nation that respects human life and wants to form a "fraternity of peace" or whatever it was. He tried to paint a picture of rainbows and unicorns of compassion and brotherhood and as anyone with an I.Q. above 90 knows, that's a lie. Then he launches into a strange rant about W.W.II and God returning. Was anyone else worried about that. I mean, this man believes the 12th Imam, the Mahdi, is returning soon and that if he can help it along he'll do just that. Armageddon people. Was this some sort of veiled threat?
From Glenn Beck's show yesterday that's very important
From Glenn Beck's show yesterday that's very important
But the point is, we must stop pretending that this man`s threats are empty. When I was about 30 years old and I`m trying to figure out life, I picked up and bought a copy of "Mein Kampf" for the first time. I didn`t read it for Hitler`s propaganda. I knew who that guy was. I read it to answer one question that had been bothering me since I was a kid: Did the Germans know what Hitler was planning on doing? The answer, unfortunately, was yes.
And while I know it`s hard to admit, some day the world may very well look back at us with the same question I had when I read "Mein Kampf." Did they know? Then they`ll watch Ahmadinejad`s interviews, they`ll read his speeches, they`ll listen to his threats, and they will wonder why, in the famous words of Edmund Burke, why did good men do nothing?
I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!

The primary difference between enemies and opponents is that the latter need to be given a fair hearing, reasoned with, and respected, whereas the former simply need to be defeated. Failing to treat Iranian President Ahmadinejad as their enemy demonstrates that Columbia University is either delusional, misguided, or itself an enemy of America rather than just an opponent.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to visit ground zero during his trip to NYC? How in the fuck could anyone in our government consider, even for one damned second, of letting this terrorist piece of scum in the country, let alone at ground zero. Thank God his request was rejected. One question. Why did it take so long to tell him no?

The love of Megan Ewens's life arrived at Arlington National Cemetery on July 7, 2006. His ashes inside a small wooden box, the box inside a coffin, the coffin draped with an American flag and carried on a caisson pulled by six black horses.
Lt. Forrest P. Ewens had shipped out for Afghanistan in March of that same year. His wife, being the same rank in the Army, understood the risks, telling a colonel at Fort Drum, N.Y., that if anything happened to her husband, she didn't want to hear about it from a stranger.
On June 6, 2006 Lt. Ewens and Sgt. Ian T. Sanchez were killed when ATV struck an IED while on combat operation in Pech River Valley, Afghanistan.
A few weeks before his death, Lt. Ewens called his wife from an Afghan mountain to inform her that his unit had been subsisting on melted snow and rations and that he had been writing his impressions down in a notebook he carried.
"This was the love of her life," Megan Ewens's mother said. "They were so well-matched and made such a good team. We couldn't ask for a better son-in-law."

We're already had high ranking Democrats admit that bad news in Iraq is good for them and their power grab, and today we had Sen. John Murtha confirm and make sure we didn't forget it.
Murtha also predicted that, despite the unpopularity of Congress, Democrats will make broad gains in next year’s election because voters are upset with the war.And that's what's important. Those seats in Congress.
"People are frustrated, but you're going to see a big Democratic increase," he told reporters after his speech. "I think we'll pick up 40 [to] 50 seats."

I was looking at the new shows for the fall lineup this year and noticed that not a single show coming one looks any good. And they haven't looked good for the past 3-4 years. It's gotten so bad that the only good show on network t.v. anymore is L&O:SVU. The only good stations anymore are USA and Sci Fi and their schedules are so screwed up that it's almost six months between seasons sometimes. Or, in the case of Battlestar Galactica, almost a year.
And I love that network television is dipping it's fingers into science fiction. But none of them are any good. Never seen Heroes and don't plan on it. Journeyman, Moonlight, New Amsterdam, The Sarah Conner Chronicles and Bionic Woman. None interest me in the slightest. I recently watched the pilot for Bionic Woman. Crap. The only good thing about it was the fact that two of the stars of BSG were in it. That's it. Network television sucks.
On other thing. Why can't t.v. execs come up with their own shows? Why are they bringing all these British shows to America? Are they really that lazy or stupid?

Richard Ramey always knew what he was going to be. Once, while in the third grade, his teacher asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up. His response? "I'll go to war and fight" Concerned by his answer, his teacher called his mother, Julie Ramey. She told her "No, that's my son".
SSgt. Ramey was killed when insurgents attacked his and other convoys in Mahmudiyah, Iraq.
"Richard loved to do his job. No matter where it would take him," said his mother. "He really felt deeply that he wanted to protect people that couldn't protect themselves"
In a statement released through Fort Knox, the Ramey family said, "He was adventurous and smart, combining both qualities in what he did for the Army. We knew his work was dangerous but also knew he wouldn’t have wanted to do anything else".

Six years later and far too many people have forgotten that day. Not the events. We'll never forget the events. But rather the feelings they had. Six years later and people like Kim Jong Ill and Ahmadinejad are seen as comedic. People we should make jokes about. I'm guilty of it myself. We see or hear a tape by bin Laden or Zawahiri and it's "Oh, another tape. What crazy thing is he spouting this time?" I'm guilty of that as well. Six years later and we've become too complacent and lazy. And when we do try to be vigilant it's called profiling and we're called racist. We will be attacked again. It will happen. And we're going be asking ourselves why. How did this happen? Who dropped the ball?. And my answer, our answer, should be to look in the mirror.

Oh, Rudy. Why? Huckabee is looking more and more like my guy. He seems to be contradicting himself all over the place. He says that illegal immigration isn't a crime nor should it be but says that wants to build the fence to keep them out. I'm confused. Sgt. Partridge was killed by an IED that exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq.
There isn't that much information about Sgt. Partridge so I though I would share some of the memories that his friends and family have of him.
"I remember Partridge from basic training and AIT. He was a very quiet guy who had a good sense of humor. I remember asking him why he joined, and he told me it was so he could take care of his family and give them a better life. I would have deployed with him any day, he was one of the good guys I graduated with. He will not be forgotten. God Bless."
"Todd was one of the best men I have ever met and I will always have great memories and admiration for him! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!"
"I will never forget you and those awful eighteen weeks at Fort Leonard Wood. You are in every sense of the term, 'A HERO'"
"Todd was such a quite, solid person. He never demanded the attention of those around him. I remember him always just smiling while everyone else at our LARGE FAMILY get togethers made noise. I could get a hug from him, but I had to ask for it. He never assumed anything. I loved making him hug me.
Todd was a solid, faithful husband, father and man in every respect. He did what had to be done in all areas of his life. He died doing what he knew to be his job in this life. Not that he wanted to die but he wanted to serve whatever the cost might be. He knew that freedom is not free and wanted to pay his part for that freedom for himself, his wife and girls.
I have nothing but love and respect for Todd's memory and will always proudly and thankfully count him among my nephews that adore. His memory will always be honored. I thank God that He brought Todd into our family. He left his mark on it just as he did everywhere he went."

And here I though John Edwards was "pro-choice".

One year ago I was forced to create the Wednesday Hero Blogroll by Greta. Well, not forced, but talked into. I wasn't sure I wanted to. I was quite happy having it as a small post I did on the two blogs and leaving it at that. But she coerced and threatened and I broke. I put the post up and waited to see if anyone would join. Blogrolls, after all, are a dime a dozen. Everyone and their mother has one. But, much to my surprise, people started to join. For a while there I had three people. Yankee Mom, Bear Creak Ledger and Mail Call. And I was happy with that. I felt that was a success. Then more joined and pretty soon I had ten blogs. And I was surprised by that. I would have been happy to stop there. Ten blogs was more than I though would ever join up. And now, one year later, well, you can count them. I never, in a million years, thought it would have taken off the way it has. But I guess it goes to show that if it's worthwhile people will want to be a part of it.
You know, I didn't start Wednesday Hero, and subsequently the blogroll, for any kind of praise. But that's what I've gotten from it. I've gotten a lot of thanks from different members of the blogroll for doing this. But I think the best payoff from doing this has been from the people who knew the soldiers that I've profile as friends and some who were family members telling me thanks. I'm not a touchy-feely, warm fuzzy feeling type of person. But when that happens it can't help but make you feel good.
Through all the troubles I've had with it, and the members know them all too well, it's been worth it. Anytime you can draw as much attention to these brave men and women, and what they do for us, as possible it's a good thing.
This video was created by Kathi over at Mail Call. I didn't ask her to do this. She took it upon herself to work on this. After you watch it, head over and give her the thanks she deserves.
