So You Say You Want A Revolution

I was thinking a couple of days ago about the different revolutions that have taken place around the world. Mexican Revolution, Russian Revolutions, Cuban Revolution and so forth. Most revolutions, for whatever reason, have resulted in the killing of the ones in power and have led to Communism, Socialism and dictatorships. Then we have the American Revolution. It didn't result in the death of King George. It didn't lead to a dictatorship. It brought about the world's first free republic where we have the power instead of the government. It led to a leader that we selected and we're supposed to have power over. We could have easily went the way of oppression like others but we didn't. What made, and, for the most part, makes, the people here so different? Has anyone really thought about that? Americans are so very different than anyone else in that we... you know, I can't quite put my finger on it. We're just tougher, more independent people. We don't like being told what to do. Our forefathers lived in that type of environment across Europe and dreamed of escaping it. That's what America is. A haven for those who have had enough. People who are sick and tired of having their lives ran for them. I know it's considered jingoist or racist or whatever to believe in American exceptionalism but we are an exceptional country. A better country. And although we've lost some of the magic that's made America the land of hope and dreams over the years, I have to, need to, believe that there are still enough of us who respect the traditions and history of this country that it will always be here. A free nation for people to come to when they need it.

Wednesday Hero

A Marine warrant officer received the Silver Star on July 15 during a short ceremony in Afghanistan. On Feb. 26, 2008, then-Staff Sgt. John W. Hermann, an explosive ordnance disposal technician, accompanied a team with Company B, 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, on a combat reconnaissance patrol through Dahaneh, a village in southern Afghanistan held by Taliban forces.

While on the patrol, the team came under a barrage of fire from rocket-propelled grenades, mortars, machine guns and small-arms fire. Hermann, according to the award citation, jumped out of his vehicle with another Marine and ran toward a group of entrenched fighters.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

We keep hearing that 2010 is the year of the Woman because of the Women running for political office. Especially Republican Women. I don't know about all that, but for us here in The Great State of Oklahoma it's looking like our next Governor will be a Woman. Mary Fallin has wan the GOP primary and it's looking like Jeri Askins will win for the Democrats. Why is this post worthy? Because whichever one wins she will be the our first Female head of state. That's kinda cool. Now the real question is, with all on her plate as Governor, can she still find the time to make me a sandwich?

Was Prince Right?

Is the internet dead? I mean, there's nothing good on it anymore. At least for those of us using dial up. Everything's so geared towards broadband anymore that it's getting to be not much fun for some of us. More and more websites are image heavy and loaded with Flash and Javascript and I can't view them. I can download music if I want, but most files are between 5-7MB and can take up to an hour or more to download. And that's not including the time it takes the page to load because it's full of Flash or Javascript. Games? Nope. Videos? I can watch the videos I post for Music Czar Monday, if I feel like sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting. Even television is going broadband with Twitter, Netflix and YouTube services being included in some new HDTV's and Blu-Ray players. How much longer before we're no longer able to watch it without an internet connection? Woe is me, woe is me I guess. Maybe when the government deems broadband a right I'll be able to get it. Government run internet. How cool would that be? Sure, they would need to monitor what sites you're visiting but it'll be "free".

The NAACP/Shirley Sherrod Story Is Dead On This Blog

This will be the last time that I talk about this story because Glenn Beck is right. It's a smoke screen for the government's power grab. While were concerned with this woman they sneak around the backdoor and pass a new piece of legislation. Haha. He called this months ago when he told us race would be the next big issue. And look what's happening. The NAACP blames them for their reaction, yet they'd already released their statement before Fox even talked about this story. But, you know, don't let that dissuade those on MSNBC from laying the blame. If you saw his show today you heard him talk about the media being the next target. And what's happening? Fox News, despite actually siding with Ms. Sherrod, is somehow the bad guy of this story. It's been the enemy of this administration from day one. Watch events over the next few months. Watch for new crises and emergencies to pop up. See how many times FNC and talk radio and such are demonized. We have an election coming up and there are a lot of backs against the wall and there's nothing more dangerous than an animal that's cornered. I'm wearing tied of these games, and yet I continue to fall for them. Something I need to work on.

I Don't Believe It

For the past few years I've had this idea. A spray that tastes just like food that people could use when they want something but don't necessarily want to actually eat something. They could spray it and satisfy their cravings. It would be great for people on diets. So I was turning it to Iron Chef last night and the show before it was going off and they were talking about a product called Le Whif. My jaw dropped. It's my idea come to life. Somehow this company read my mind and stole my product that I never actually created.

More On Shirley Sherrod & The NAACP

The Shirley Sherrod story has another hitch. It seems, and I haven't seen the tape yet, that she was telling a story about something that happened almost 30 years ago. So she thought about being racist then thought better of it. But there's a question that I need to ask. Was this all a set up to try further discredit some? We've seen a number of people on CNN and MSNBC blame FNC for this and the NAACP, despite having the tape and knowing what she was talking about, is now blaming FNC and Breitbart for their, the NAACP, reaction to the story. And did Gibbs try to blame Fox yesterday? I'm not sure. It stands to reason that the NAACP would know how some would react to this, especially after the whole Tea Party resolution stunt. A Black person talking about not helping a White person. People fell for it hook, line and sinker. Myself included. We should have been more vigilant. That was our fault. But it does seem a little convenient that it would surface when it did. And was the tape that was released not the whole thing? In the article above it says

I don't know. But if it was a stunt then it seems to have gotten a little out of control when some in the government decided to get involved.

Look, I honestly don't know if it was a stunt or not, it probably wasn't, but should we be afraid to ask the question? I don't think so. It's our obligation to do so. And it's actually the job of journalists to ask these sorts of question and then to look into them. With the political climate in this country the way it is today, anything's possible.

Another Story To Ignore

Yes ladies and gentlemen, there is still racism in American but it's not coming from the Tea Party movement. And sorry, but this is actually Indian land. But, you know, whatever.

Then there's this video of a woman giving a speech at NAACP dinner in which she admits that she didn't really too far out of her way to help a White farmer but instead directs him to a White lawyer because she recons he would better off getting help from "one of his own kind". More Fox News/George W. Bush lies I'm sure. Don't look for the established media to pick up on these stories.

And I just learned off of Twitter that the woman in the NAACP video has resigned, so now it can be swept under the rug and never brought up again. Unless your racist that is.

Army Suicides Hit Record High

21 soldiers committed suicide last month. That's beyond messed up.

Tim Embree of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America testified Wednesday before the House Veterans Affairs Committee that many soldiers fear seeking help.

"The heavy stigma associated with mental health care stops many service members and veterans from seeking treatment," he said. "More than half of soldiers and Marines in Iraq who tested positive for a psychological injury reported concerns that they will be seen as weak by their fellow service members."

The Government Can Go To Hell

Right after they kiss my fat ass. I will be damned if they're going to get either my height, weight or BMI. I am so pissed off right now I'm having trouble tying this out. These people have to be stopped. They are turning this country into a damned Fascist state ruled by a maniacal dictator in training. God damn everyone who voted for this man. And if you don't like that, I don't give a fuck. You are as much, if not more, to blame for what's going on.

I hope Republicans win in November. Not because they'll do a better job, they won't, but so maybe this ass will be impeached and then thrown out of power. He's actively working against the American people and the Constitution and there has to be a law somewhere that's he's broken. We just need someone with the balls to finally do something about it. There is too much apathy in this country. Too many people turning a blind eye, denying what's happening right in front of their eyes, making excuses or, worse of all, approving of what going on.

al-Qaeda Is Racist

It's good to see the White House take a stand. And they're really putting their necks out on this one.

Speaking about the Uganda bombings, the president said, "What you've seen in some of the statements that have been made by these terrorist organizations is that they do not regard African life as valuable in and of itself. They see it as a potential place where you can carry out ideological battles that kill innocents without regard to long-term consequences for their short-term tactical gains."

Uh, Mr. President, I believe that's true for everyone not just Africans.

HTML vs XML

If you run a blog changes are you've messed with it's code.  Maybe to add a picture or move some piece of code around to change the layout.  I've been blogging since 2003 and all of that has been using HTML.  It's easy to understand and simple to figure out.  I've recently switched over to Blogger's new design which uses XML and I'm not a big fan of it.  It's much more difficult to figure out than basic HTML.  I spent almost two hours yesterday messing with it just to move a few things around.  I eventually got what I wanted, sort of.  It's not exactly what I would like but it'll do.  I don't think I'm going to be mastering it anytime soon.

Star Trek In Todays World II

Now, just bare with me here. I'm going to talk about Trek a bit but it applies to the world we live in today. I've been watching my favorite Trek series, Enterprise, and I'm on season 4. More specifically the Vulcan storyline. In it the Vulcan's have lost their way over the years from the teachings of Surak. His original writing have been lost for centuries and all that remain are what's been passed down, and those are open to interpretation. They've been corrupted by the High Command, their government. It's kind of like what's going on in the country today. Our government, and it's citizens, have lost their way from what our founders intended this country to be. We have their writings but they're not followed and some are being interpreted incorrectly. In the storyline they find Surok's original writings and they change their entire culture back to the way it was intended. One of the episodes is called "Awakening". This country's going through it's own awakening with people finally realizing that our government is corrupt and things need to change before we destroy ourselves.

If you have Netflix check out the disks of season 4 with the episodes "The Forge", "Awakening" & "Kir'Shara" and see how closely they match with what's going on today.

I guess there must be something wrong with me because I find nothing funny about spies being caught in our country. Even if one of them is very attractive. People hear that Russian spies were captured and for some reason it's not taken all to seriously. Boris & Natasha jokes abound. Our V.P. on Leno cracking jokes about trading Rush Limbaugh. I wonder if they'd been Arab instead of Russian would people's attitudes would be the same? Thankfully they weren't able to find whatever they were here for, but what if...

What If...

I wonder what would happen if a video were to surface showing a Tea Party protester standing outside a polling place holding a weapon talking about living under the rule of the White man. I wonder what kind of firestorm would ensue if a video of a Tea Party protester were to surface showing him yelling that he hated Niggers and that the only way to get freedom would be to kill Niggers and their babies. Well, actually I don't really wonder too much. We all saw what happened when Tea Party protesters were accused of using racial and homophobic terms and spitting on Black members of Congress. I don't watch much news anymore, I'll check out FNC in the mornings, so I don't really know how much outrage there is on the other networks but from past experience I would say not enough. But I could be, and hope I am, wrong. But if the roles were reversed, and it was a White person who just happened to be a Tea Party protester...

Wednesday Hero

Corporal Rodolfo P. Hernandez
Company G, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team


Cpl. Hernandez, a member of Company G, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy. On May 31, 1951 near Wontong-ni, Korea his platoon, in defensive positions on Hill 420, came under ruthless attack by a numerically superior and fanatical hostile force, accompanied by heavy artillery, mortar, and machine gun fire which inflicted numerous casualties on the platoon.

His comrades were forced to withdraw due to lack of ammunition but Cpl. Hernandez, although wounded in an exchange of grenades, continued to deliver deadly fire into the ranks of the onrushing assailants until a ruptured cartridge rendered his rifle inoperative. Immediately leaving his position, Cpl. Hernandez rushed the enemy armed only with rifle and bayonet. Fearlessly engaging the foe, he killed 6 of the enemy before falling unconscious from grenade, bayonet, and bullet wounds but his heroic action momentarily halted the enemy advance and enabled his unit to counterattack and retake the lost ground. For his actions on that day, Cpl. Hernandez was awarded the distinguished Medal Of Honor on April 21, 1952. The indomitable fighting spirit, outstanding courage, and tenacious devotion to duty clearly demonstrated by Cpl. Hernandez reflect the highest credit upon himself, the infantry, and the U.S. Army.


These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

Firsts

We all have a slew of "firsts" in our lives. I thought I would do a post talking about a few mine. Most will be geared to basic things because personal things are just that and private, although there are a few.

My first video game system was the NES. I remember when we got it my brother and I stayed up most of the night playing Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. My other brother had one as well with "The Legend Of Zelda". I pwned that game.

My first CD was a best of the Beach Boys I'd gotten from the BMG music club.

My first DVD was either The Matrix or a documentary on musician Robbie Robbertson. Can't remember which one I got fist.

My first computer was a graduation gift from my mom. A Packard Bell. If I remember correctly, it had either a 144 or 177 MHz processor. I still have the speakers.

The first song I learned all the lyrics to was "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Brooks & Dunn. I was a Country fiend back in the day.

The first time I ever had to deal with death was with my dad. I was in the 11th grade and he had recently had open heart surgery.

The first crush I had was in the 1st grade on a redhead named Summer.

The first girl that I really had feeling for was in the 10th or 11th grade. Her name was Christie. I'd even wrote a very crappy poem about her. But, being the horribly shy person that I am I never said anything.

My first kiss is something that I actually don't remember too well. I was maybe 11-12 years old. I don't even remember her name. A bunch of kids were staying the night with my brother's then girlfriend. She was there as well. We just kind of clicked. I'll never forget this for as long as I live because it was so very embarrassing at the time. We all just slept on the floor and I apparently fell asleep with my arm around her shoulder. Everyone woke up before I did and saw this. The older boys were relentless in their teasing. I now know it was all just good-natured, but at the time I was mortified. I hid behind a chair most of that day I was so embarrassed.

You Mean There's A 7 AM?

Well, I'm screwed. I sure ain't no morning person. I'm barely an evening person.

I've been watching Enterprise the past week or so and I noticed something else we have today that seems to have been influenced by Trek. Take a look at the PADDS they use. Pride Parades

There's been stories in the news lately about all the Gay pride parades that have taken place. There's also parades to show pride in the city you live, ones to show pride in your race, unless you're White, and so forth. And it got me to thinking, what other kinds of parades could we hold to celebrate things we have no control over? I want to hold a Brown Eye pride parade. I love my brown eyes. Or how about a Brunette pride parade? My Favorite Color Is Purple pride parade? I Love Beer pride parade? Wait, that's St. Patrick's Day. There's hundreds of pride parades that we're missing out on people. Contact your local City Hall and let's get moving.

SSgt. Salvatore Guinta

I wanted to introduce someone to you. His name is Sal Giunta. He is a Staff Sgt. in the United States Army. He is currently stationed in Vicenza, Italy, but on October 25, 2007 he was in the Korengal Valley area of Afghanistan with the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

In late 2007 SSgt. Giunta risked his life when he charged a group of Taliban fighters who were trying make off with a wounded comrade of his. He, and his fellow soldiers from B Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, were on their way back from a major operation when they are ambushed. Sgt. Josh Brennan was walking point that day and was hit eight times. While the soldiers were trying to stay alive in the attack, SSgt. Giunta saw two Taliban fighters trying to make off with the wounded Sgt. Josh Brennan. SSgt. Giunta, who had been hit himself but was saved by his armor chest plate, left the safety of cover to help. He started running toward his friend and emptied his magazine. The Taliban fighters dropped Sgt. Brennan and ran. SSgt. Giunta dragged Sgt. Brennan back to safety, but sadly it was too late. Sgt. Brennan didn't survive the attack.

Said Giunta, "I did what I did because that’s what I was trained to do. I didn’t run through fire to save a buddy – I ran through fire to see what was going on with him and maybe we could hide behind the same rock and shoot together. I didn’t run through fire to do anything heroic or brave. I did what I believe anyone would have done. The medal should go the guy on the right of me and the guy on the left of me. We were all in the fight."

What makes this story even more incredible is that SSgt. Sal Giunta has been considered for the Medal Of Honor, making him, should he receive it, the first living recipient since the Vietnam War.

If you want to know the reason why so many Americans are completely fed up with the morons in our government, listen to this arrogant, pompous ass. He is the reason. Calling Minutemen murders, all the while he's slouched with that smug smirk on his face. This guy showed far more restraint that I would have. Had that been me I would have lashed out with a slew of obscenities. And I'm guessing that's what Pete Stark wanted to happen. He wanted him to let lose to show that we're nothing more than angry, uneducated, violent idiots. So good on this man for keeping his cool. "I'm not the government"? Yes you are. I would say "I'm glad he doesn't represent me", but I don't think Oklahomans would elect someone this stupid.
