Reader John K sent me this story about how the NY Times was all too willing believe this false story about Abu Ghraib. Does it really surprise anyone?

Actually, they've yet to prove it false.
It's been challenged, but that's it. Unless you think that "photo analysis" can tell you with 100% accuracy the identity of a hooded person, that is.
Interesting. When the Times wants to check a story about Abu Ghraib, they don’t call anyone in the US government. They call Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, two of the most politicized left-wing NGOs in the world.
The US government originally denied Abu Ghraib even happened. It wasn't even until the photos got released that they did anything.
And please John, explain to us all how they're "left-wing"? Or can't you do that without cut-and-pasting a response?
Sure I can, but why should I? Other people are much more elloquent that I.
Are you denying those organizations are "Left-Wing" NGO's?
Certainly. I've yet to see either proclaim that we should take down the capitalist system.
So the definition of "Left-wing" has changed to Marxist/Socialist?
I guess I did not get that memo.
Capitalism is a core right-wing philosophy is it not?
So rationally then, it would make sense that someone on the left would not want a capitalist system. And someone who supports the capitalist system (variations aside), is thus, on the right.
If you say you have not seen those NGO's condem capitalism; then I say I have not seen them endorse it either.
They ARE "Left-Wing"; just not extreme left-wing.
BTW: The NYT admitted today they have the wrong guy for this story and they were wrong. I sent the story to Chris.
Its official now and Za's first comment is no longer true.
John, their policies are ALL within the paradigm of the capitalist system - and they've done nothing in any way against capitalism.
So yes, they do endorse it through their policies, they're just not so extremely right-wing as yourself.
I don't think I'am extreme right wing. After all; Iam 56% open-minded. Those things don't jive in my book.
Supporting the working class so that way you can actually HAVE a working class just "doesn't jive" with furthering the capitalist system?
You're a strange, strange person John.
