And yet if you look at the 60's - who was against the separate institutions for black Americans? Oh - the Democrats.
Because it has nothing to do with party politics, and everything to do with the attachment to liberalism.
The Republicans used to be libertarian. They no longer are. It might as well be an entirely separate party.
