Don't forget that Saturday is the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. So if you haven't already done so you need to head out to the store tonight, or tomorrow, and pickup a few non-perishable canned and boxed goods and leave them by your mailbox. More and more people are needing this help every year so it's extremely important that people do this. It doesn't have to be a lot. A can or two of green beans will help.
Beth asked me to help her spread the word about this story and being the kind of guy that I am I told her to buzz off. But she offered me $20 and I saw the error of my ways ;) No. It's a pretty good piece on Alaska's Pebble Mine Project and efforts to stop it.
Pearl Harbor survivor found living in horrible conditions due to the abuse by his caregiver. You know, there's nothing I could say that would convey just how messed up this is. Read it and prepare to be extremely outraged.

I didn't watch any of the news/opinion shows tonight, did anyone condemn Rep. Cohen for his comparison of Republicans opposing the health care bill to Nazi propaganda leading to the Holocaust? In this happy, happy, joy, joy, we're all brothers and sisters, "crosshairs" and "target" are a no-no era of politics you would have to think that someone did.

Nigger. I said it. Oh no, I must be racist. Ban me or fire me from something. I tell you, I am so sick and tired of the language police that have taken over this country. I honestly don't have a problem with the way Burlington used it. He didn't say it to be mean. He didn't say it to someone in a racist manner. People, stop being a damn slave to political correctness. And while we're on the subject, I'm tired of having to pay for what our ancestors, and even our grandparents, did. None of us had anything to do with slavery and the majority of us had nothing to do with segregation, yet we're made to feel guilty about it all the time. Well, I don't. I have zero guilt about slavery or segregation because I had nothing to do with it. And this is coming from someone who's people were severely wronged, as much if not more than Blacks, in the past, but I've let it go. I urge others to do the same.

So a church in Florida wants to hold a Qu'ran burning. While I think it's down right stupid and don't agree with it, they do have the right. Just like we have the right to burn or destroy the Bible, or any book, CD or what have you, or the flag. Or like those Westboro Baptist asses have the right to protest. I think it's hate speech myself, but they're not breaking any laws. At least I don't think they are. What I would like to see is this much attention and outrage when someone burns the flag. That would be nice.
Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn't violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway — and no reasonable expectation that the government isn't tracking your movements.
I can't be the only one this ruling scares the hell out of.

Eco-fascism at it's best.
City government is starting do to things like that here as well. Trash will only be picked up once a week and they're "advising" us to not rake up grass clippings or water our lawns. They haven't forced us to recycle, yet.

By issuing these tickets, it's helping us change the attitude or perception on how things should be set outIf people won't do it of their own free will, then we'll force them into it.

You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest.True patriotism? The inference being that people who wore a lapel pin were faking their patriotism.
What...what's that he's wearing on his lapel during his recent visit to "The View"? Is that a sign of his fake patriotism? Why, I think it is. What's the point of this post? There isn't one. I was just bored and didn't have anything else to do.
Okay now, I want to see Obama supporters screaming from the rafters about this the way they did when Bush was doing similar things. I really like this part:
These missives, which can be issued by an FBI field office on its own authority, require the recipient to provide the requested information and to keep the request secret

Do you know anyone who was in the Weather Underground? Our president does. Do you know anyone who was part of an organization with the ideology of "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents." Our president does. Do you know a terrorist? Our president does. Do you know anyone who associates with cop killers? Our president does. Do you know anyone who idealizes mass murderer Che Guevara? Our president does. Do you know anyone who was on the run from the FBI? Our president does.
If I'm not mistaken, and let's face it, I often am, I believe this is unconstitutional under Article II, Section I, Clauses 2 & 3 of the United States Constitution. Again, I wasn't an A student in Civics, so...
Saw this on Facebook.

A letter has emerged that shows the U.S., while preferring Pan Am 103 terrorist Abdel Baset al-Megrahi to remain in prison, they were more in favor of his being released than going a Libyan prison. I wish I could say this surprises me, but...
The very people who help may it so that we can vote are having their votes tossed out because they weren't given enough time to do so. F'ed up.
The Shirley Sherrod story has another hitch. It seems, and I haven't seen the tape yet, that she was telling a story about something that happened almost 30 years ago. So she thought about being racist then thought better of it. But there's a question that I need to ask. Was this all a set up to try further discredit some? We've seen a number of people on CNN and MSNBC blame FNC for this and the NAACP, despite having the tape and knowing what she was talking about, is now blaming FNC and Breitbart for their, the NAACP, reaction to the story. And did Gibbs try to blame Fox yesterday? I'm not sure. It stands to reason that the NAACP would know how some would react to this, especially after the whole Tea Party resolution stunt. A Black person talking about not helping a White person. People fell for it hook, line and sinker. Myself included. We should have been more vigilant. That was our fault. But it does seem a little convenient that it would surface when it did. And was the tape that was released not the whole thing? In the article above it says
Look, I honestly don't know if it was a stunt or not, it probably wasn't, but should we be afraid to ask the question? I don't think so. It's our obligation to do so. And it's actually the job of journalists to ask these sorts of question and then to look into them. With the political climate in this country the way it is today, anything's possible.
She said that a video of her entire speech would reveal that she described...I don't know. But if it was a stunt then it seems to have gotten a little out of control when some in the government decided to get involved.
