Poor MSNBC

Is it any wonder they're at the bottom of the ratings? Flipping through the channels and I land on "Scarborough Country" and Joe is talking about CNN's latest screw-up. He then shows a "comedy" bit where he's talking about holding the head of a dying African child, ends his show and walks into the bathroom leaving his mic on. I had to turn it. Retarded. And yesterday, I happened to catch our good pal Keith Olbermann talking to someone from Newsweek, who's name escapes me, and they were still trying to connect Karl Rove to Valerie Plame. It's sad, really. MSNBC gets new graphics and new sets but forgets one very important thing. Talent.

Jimmy Does It Again

This Was Brought To My Attention By John K

"Worst President In History", Jimmy Carter, has agreed to hold talks with former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami. I don't know why this surprises anyone. Jimmy Carter is the type of man who would sit and have tea with bin Laden. He's an appeaser and sympathizer.

Some Changes

Blogger has finally, after more than three years, decided to upgrade. It's still in beta so that means there's still a few bugs. Below are a list of things you may experiance.

Support for some browsers. If you use IE 6.0 or Firefox, you should be fine, but we're still working on the compatibility issues in other browsers such as Safari, Opera, etc.

"We're sorry but we're unable to complete your request" errors. These occasionally occur on blogs or on settings pages, and have various causes. We're working on fixing the related problems, but if you want to provide us with additional information, you can send us your specific example.

Users who have not switched to Blogger in beta will not be able to login to comment on blogs that have been switched. Commenting using the "anonymous" or "other" options will still work.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 attempts to download links to site feeds, rather than display them in the browser. You can right-click the link to copy the location into your feed reader.

Some "view blog in new window" links will open in the same window.

Christmas

That's right, I used the dirty "C" word. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, ACLU. Anyway, if you're a long time reader than you know I like to decorate the blog for Christmas. I like to think that I do a pretty good job of it. I've gotten a few compliments. Seeing as it's less than four months, I actually get the Christmas design up on Dec. 1, so it's only three months, I'm already working on it. I hope I won't disappointed this year. Last year I started it July and changed about 5-6 times before I finally came up with one I liked. Stay tuned, I think this year will be real festive.

It's Time

Two weeks ago, Aug. 19, Pennsylvania's Democratic candidate for the House, Joe Sestak, gave the Democratic Radio Address. In that address, Mr. Sestak said the following
Read More

It is time for a new direction. It starts by speaking honestly with America about the true costs of Iraq, including to our security. There is no better military than ours: our men and women are a national treasure who have performed brilliantly-they always do. Now it's time for their mission to change. We must begin a phased redeployment of our forces so that we are prepared to face the security challenges we have worldwide.

The fact is, we are fostering a culture of dependence in Iraq. Iraqi leaders must be responsible for their own country. They must make the difficult political compromises that will stop the civil war and bring about stability. We cannot do this work for them.
It's time to start handing the security efforts in Iraq over to the Iraqis and for the U.S. military to begin pulling out. Not a total pull out. Despite what some in this country think, the U.S. will need to keep a military presence in that country for some time. But we've been holding their hand for three years now. If they want to get back on their feet and get their country back up and running they're going to have to start doing it themselves. Many operations are being carried out by the Iraqi military, with U.S. troops offering only a supporting role, but more could be. I still support this war and the president. I still believe he made the right move removing Saddam from power. That's never going to change. However, I think more than enough American troops have died. I've resisted a timetable in the past, but things change. By the beginning of next year Bush needs to start pulling some of our troops out. To say that we need to be there until they're able to handle it themselves is all well and good, I've been saying it for three years, but how long much longer do we stay? 5 years? 10 years? 15? They will be able to take control one day. I don't doubt that, but the longer we're holding them up the long it'll take. I'm not frustrated. I'm not one of these people who think it should take only a year or two, and get impatient if it isn't done when I think it should. This will be a decades long commitment. Nor do I care what the rest of the world thinks. But maybe us letting go some will be the kick in the pants they need.

Bought And Paid For

I don't much about the law, nor do I pretend to, but couldn't this be considered a conflict of interest? The judge that recently ruled that the NSA wiretaps were illegal donated, through her foundation, $45,000 to the ACLU. The ACLU were the ones who filed the case under bogus reasons. The ACLU, in yet another case of judge shopping, "found" yet another one that would be sympathetic to their causes.

Growing Up

First off, It's good to be back. Miss me? The reason I took a week off, well six days, was because for the past few months I've been thinking about hanging up the keyboard. On Sep. 15 it will be three years since I started blogging and I figure what better day to end it on. I took the week to see if I would be able to not blog. I found out that, nope, I can't. Have you ever watched "Star Trek"? If so then you know the Borg. Look up. Blogging is integrated into my circuitry. It was driving me nuts not having an outlet to vent myself. Stupid stories everywhere. The one that really got me was this jackass who claims to have been the one to kill JonBenet Ramsey. Not the story itself, but what the media covered about it. Watching FNC, and they were creaming their jeans over where this guy sat on the plane when transported back to the states. What?!?!?!? Who the hell cares what seat he was sitting in on a plane? I don't, and I hope none of you do either. Whatever. On to the real post.

In case you didn't know, yesterday was my birthday. 27-years-old. Damn, what's happened? Anyway, I was sitting around and thinking about it. I'm now an adult. I've become what I've always dreaded. And now that I'm grown, I'm beginning to think that maybe some things should change. I've never been one for partying, but if I were this would be the time that I would have to start slowing down. I'm not big on marriage, but if I were this would be the time that I would want to settle down and raise a family. The horror. But, there are things that I still enjoy today that I did as a kid that I should maybe start backing away from. For example, I still like fruity, sugary cereals like Capt. Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles. Maybe it's time to let those go and start eating Cherrios and Corn Flakes. I still like Chef Boyardee canned Spaghetti. Maybe it's time for a more adult soup like Campbell's Select. I still, to this day, have the urge to go out into my backyard and play with G.I. Joe and Transformers. I still have AC/DC posters hanging on my bedroom walls. On a hot day I still like "play" in the sprinkler. I get giddy when watching "Star Wars". I sometimes watch Nickelodeon cartoons("The Fairly OddParents" and "Jimmy Neutron" are funny). I still air-guitar to a good rock song. I become a 10-year-old kid at Christmas. Perhaps, now that I'm almost 30, it's time to put all this stuff away and start acting like the adult that I now am. But, then again....

Wednesday Hero

This weeks Wednesday Hero was nominated by Silke(See-Ka)

Spc. Joe Darby
United States Army
26-years-old from Boswell, Pennsylvania
372nd Military Police Company

Spc. Joe Darby is the man who brought to light the events that took place at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

From The AP
Darby worked evenings after school. He attended North Star High, then left to study forestry at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School.

After he married his wife, Bernadette, the couple moved to Virginia, where he worked as an auto mechanic before enlisting.

(Gilbert)Reffner (former neighbor) described Darby as polite and respectful. He said the family had little money when he was growing up. "He didn't have much at all," Reffner said. "But he was brought up properly. He was brought up to know right from wrong."

These brave men and women risk their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

If you have a loved who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces, and would like for me to profile them as a Wednesday Hero, I would be proud to. Just email me with some info and a photo.

I'm Back: News On Iran

Okay, I know I said one week, which would mean I should be back tomorrow, but I had to jump on this story. Does anyone really think Iran is serious. Except Za that is. I mean, he still believes they want nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and not a nuclear weapon. I mean, why would Ahmadinejad risk the response attack on Iran should he detonate a nuke over Israel? Other than the fact that this camel fucker believes that the end times are coming and that it's his job to help the world bow to Islam. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.

This is simple, really. Well, as simple as a situation like this can be. But it all hangs on whether the U.N., and Kofi Annan, has balls or not. The ultimatum: Iran stops the enrichment of uranium or the U.N. will shut the country down. Absolutely no exporting or importing of any good or services. That means no more selling of oil to help raise money for Hezbollah. France, Germany and Russia will be pissed, but fuck them. But like I said, this all depends on the size of Kofi's sack. Which, in the past, has been pretty small.

Vacation Time

Sadly, I can't take a real vacation. Rather it's a break. I'm going to try and put the keyboard and mouse away for a week. And I stress the word "try".

Hello, My Name's Chris, And I'm An Internet Addict.

I'll be back next week, if not sooner.

Wednesday Heroes

This weeks hero was brought to my attention by Greta. I'd never heard about this until she told me about it.

Back on September 11, 2001, after the WTC was attacked, a U.S. Marine showed up at the site to help in the recovery efforts. He, along with Staff Sgt. David Karnes, helped to rescue two port authority police officers who were buried alive. Shortly after that he disapeared, only identifying himself as Sgt. Thomas. Five years later, after Oliver Stone's movie, "World Trade Center", has come out has Sgt. Jason Thomas finally come forward.

The Real Face Of Abortion

WARNING
The following post is extremely graphic. It contains text and images that deal with what's known as "late term" abortion. Abortion that is done after the fifth month of pregnancy. As of right now it is still legal in this country, though many states have passed laws that ban it. President Bush has signed legislation that would end this Nazi-like practice, but as far as I know it has yet to pass. I urge you to proceed with caution. However, should you happen to support the practice of infanticide you should keep reading. If you're "pro-choice" you should look at what exactly it is that you're supporting.

We must change the climate overall from one where abortion providers are vilified and assaulted to one where they are honored and upheld as the heroes they are
-An ACLU Press Release

The following is from the book The ACLU vs America: Exposing The Agenda To Redefine Moral Values. It is the testimony of Pratt Shafer, a nurse from Ohio, to a subcommittee of the U.S. House Of Representatives on March 21, 1996.

In September 1993, [my employer] asked me to accept assignment at the Women's Medical Center, which is operated by Dr. Martin Haskell. I readily accepted the assignment because I was at that time very pro-choice. I had even told my teenage daughters that if one of them ever got pregnant at a young age, I would make them get an abortion. So, because of the strong pro-choice vies that I held at that time, I thought this assignment would be no problem for me.

But I was wrong. I stood at a doctor's side as he performed the partial-birth abortion procedure-and what I saw is branded forever on my mind.

On the first day, we assisted in some first-trimester abortions, which is all I'd expected to be involved in... On the second day, I saw Dr. Haskell do a second-trimester procedure that is called D&E(dilation and evacuation). He used ultrasound to examine the fetus. Then he used forceps to pull apart the baby inside the uterus, bringing it out piece by piece and piece, throwing the pieces in a pan.

On the third day, Dr. Haskell asked me to observe as he performed several of the procedures that are the subject of this hearing. Although I was in that clinic on assignment of the agency, Dr. Haskell was interested in hiring me full time, and I was being given orientation in the entire range of procedures provided as that facility.

The mother was six months pregnant... A doctor told her that the baby had Down's Syndrome and she decided to have an abortion...Dr. Haskell brought the ultrasound in and hooked it up so that he could see the baby. On the ultrasound screen, I could see the heart beating.

Dr. Haskell went in with forceps and grabbed the baby's legs and pulled them down into the birth canal. Then he delivered the baby's body and the arms-everything but the head. The doctor kept that baby's head just inside the uterus.

The baby's little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors through the back of his head, and the baby's arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks he might fall.

The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high-powered suction tube into the opening and sucked the baby's brains out. Now the baby was completely limp. I was completely unprepared for what I was seeing, I almost threw up as I watched the doctor do these things.

Dr. Haskell delivered that baby's head. He cut the umbilical cord and delivered the placenta. He threw that baby back in the pan, along with the placenta and the instruments he'd used. I saw the baby move in the pan. I asked another nurse and she said it was just "reflexes." I have been a nurse for a long time and I have seen a lot of death-people maimed in auto accidents, gunshot wounds, you name it. I have seen surgical procedures of every sort. But in all my professional years, I had never witnessed anything like this.

The woman wanted to see her baby, so they cleaned up the baby and put it in a blanket and handed the baby to her. She cried the whole time, and she kept saying, "I'm so sorry, please forgive me!" I was crying too. I couldn't take it. That baby boy had the most perfect angelic face I have ever seen.

Terrorism & Political Correctness In The 21st Century

I wanted to talk a little about this terror plot in England. I have to say, a number of things about this scares the hell out of me.

1. They were allegedly homegrown. Which means they were born and raised in the democratic country of England. They weren't from Afghanistan or Iran. They were raised, most likely, middle-class. Probably didn't have many worries in life.

2. They were allegedly all Muslim and of Arab decent. We'll get to this below.

3. The method of which they were going to blow these planes up. Liquid chemicals. No one expected something this. A bomb that could be hidden in a bottle of pop and detonated with a cell phone or a watch? Scares the shit out of me.

We're told that it's wrong to look at the color of someone's skin or their religious background or their heritage and judge them on it. Well if you'll have a look over past 30 years, who has carried out the majority of terroristic attacks across the world? Arab men of Muslim faith. Now, I admit, I don't like looking at an Arab man and wonder if he might have some kind of weapon on him but I'm beginning to. Is it wrong? Yes. But that's the environment we live in today. That Mr. Hassan down the road may seem to be the nicest man in the world, but maybe, just maybe, he's the next Mohammed Atta. What to do about it? I honestly don't know. We can't go around acting like FDR rounding up Arabs and throwing them in "internment camps" but at the same time we can't continue to bury our heads in the sand and pretend nothings wrong. It's a "damned if we do and damned if we don't" situation.

Terror Plot Foiled

A plan hatched by at least 21 people in the U.K. to blow up between 6-10 airlines was stopped by authorities.
Mr Reid[British Home Secretary John Reid] said had the attack gone ahead it would have caused a loss of life of "unprecedented scale".
"We were really getting quite close to the execution phase," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said...
On another blog I visit, I've seen someone say "I think a war against terrorism would be a good idea. When do we start?" And for $50, can anyone guess what side of the political spectrum this guy resides on?

WSJ opinion columnist, Lanny Davis, is now saying that us Right-Wingers no longer hold the exclusive rights to hate and bigotry. We never did, you dumb shit. A 74-year-old Ohio woman may lose her 10-year-old vanity plate. I don't have a joke for this one.

Reuters pulls doctored image of Beirut. Wow, you mean some in the media are that much against Israel? Who would have guessed.

A Detroit man was robbed of his hotdogs. And there better not be relish on these.

A Welsh man was easily recognized on police surveillance video. "Could you pick him out of a line-up?" "I think so."

The iRipoff, I mean iPod, his now battle ready. They can create this for an MP3 player but not better amour for the troops. WTF?

Coke may have to reveal it's secret formula. The end of the world is finally here.

And finally, the pièce de résistance. This is the funniest story I have ever read. There is no joke that I could come up with that would top the story itself. Enjoy.

Cherokee Morning Song

o-s-da sunalei
(Good Morning)

We n' de ya ho, We n' de ya ho
We n' de ya ho, We n' de ya ho, ho ho ho
He ya ho he ya, Ya ya ya

The above are the lyrics to a traditional Cherokee song that was/is sung to greet the new day and to give thanks to the Great Spirit for being able to witness that new day. What it translates to is

I am of the Great Spirit, Ho! I am of the Great Spirit, Ho!
I am of the Great Spirit, Ho! I am of the Great Spirit, Ho! It is so, it is so.
Great Spirit, Great Spirit, Great Spirit

I'm not a very good Indian. I don't know much about my heratige or sadly even my family. The only thing I do know is that my family were once known as Yellowfeather and that was changed sometime in the late 1800's - early 1900's. Not sure why. But everyone once and a while I'll get on a "Native trip" where I'll start looking around and listening to music to try and help me remember where I come from. I was listening to this song last night and I thought I would put this post up. I would also put the song up, but YouSendIt.com, for some reason, isn't letting me. But if you go to Amazon and search for Robbie Robertson's album "Music For The Native American" you can hear a sample of it. Who knows, you may even buy the album.

At least according to the E.U. and United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Mark Malloch Brown. This is also the guy who said that us here in the heartland are too stupid to see the real the U.N. because of FNC. And I wonder if the E.U. had been around in the late 30's, would they have labeled the Nazis a terrorist group?

And before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, the ACLU has nothing to do with this case. At least as far as I know.

Thank You

This post is dedicated to the men and woman who have served and are serving in the United States military. I've never been in the armed forces, so I don't even pretend to know everything you go through or the sacrifices you have made or are making. But my father was in the Army during the Korean War so I have tremendous respect for you and what you do for us. I just wanted to let you know that you have people back home who love, support and respect you and who wish you a safe and speedy return. You sacrifice everything in your lives for people you don't even know. You may not call yourselves heroes, but that's what you are.
Thank You
The first of every month, I try to post this message. It would be nice to see people honor and thank the men and woman who keep us safe. So if you would like to take part in this, just save the image above to your server and re-post this post. If you're not able to upload images, Photobucket or Tinypic are two great free host sites. What's great about this is that anyone can participate. There's no political leanings here. Show your support for the men and woman who defend our freedoms.
